  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

a friend of mine has a Skoda Superb

and it is a large part of why i am considering an equus. the amount of fun one can have with people not knowing what a car is/being in utter shock at "all this room back here!" never gets old.

high quality + stealth identity = good times.

skoda? what is that?
are you european?

According to Hyundai, Currently, There is no plan that equus/genesis will sell in europe.
Because Lexus failure in europe.

Is genesis sedan selling in your country?

Not even close. That thing doesn't even compete w/ the Genesis, let alone an Equus. The Superb is a slightly-longer B6 VW Passat w/ nicer trimming. It's drivetrain, size, and feature content are a significant step down from the Equus. The only thing the 2 vehicles have in common is they are both the flagships of their respective brands.

Škoda is a Czech subsidiary of VW.

The Superb seems to be more in the Genesis class than the Equus. The Genesis is longer, wider, taller, and has bigger engines than the Superb. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Škoda_Superb

relax folks, i live in virginia. don't go kickin' me off the forum in a fury of patriotism now

i work in a company that has close ties to russia. and yes, the genesis is on sale there: http://www.hyundai.ru/ru/auto/genesis/?ver23=2

and 2 million rubles is about 67,000 bucks. ouch.

and i wasn't suggesting that the Skoda Superb would directly compete with the Equus, you misunderstood. I meant that both are stealth luxury and (hopefully, in the case of the equus) crazy good deals.

look, the skoda gives you an umbrella, a la rolls royce:

and i say i say i say just look at all that leg room:

that's not impressive to anyone? it's certainly not what you'd expect in what's basically a low grade passat. (and the equus isn't what you'd expect from hyundai, get it? did you take the journey with me?)

To be fair, I think that's the Executive model of the Superb with the crazy leg room and chauffeured amenities. A town car model of the Genesis would be more on par than the Equus. And, by the time the Americans and Canadians get done with it, I think the Equus will be far more like a Lexus LS460, not a LS460L. That is, it will be more of a driver's car than one where the owner sits in the back seat.

I was very impressed by the Equus, but we'll see if things like the rear entertainment system, reclining and massaging seats actually make it into the N. American production model. And whether it's more like the Superb (more than you expect for the price) or more like the Phaeton (price and features of a high end car without the brand cachet).

we'll see if things like the rear entertainment system,

yah, i was surprised, just googling away, to find that something like the XC60 (though it makes sense for kids, etc.) even has dual headrest screens. and it's not something i've seen on the s-class rival equus.

I always see Skoda's when I travel in Europe. Its not your fathers Skoda.

When watching the "Tour de France" I always make note of the cars and motorcycles that support the bikes. Lots of Skoda's on the various teams.

BTW Dataguy, you got the wrong alphabet. Although a Slavic Language, the Czech's like the Poles and the Croats, use the same alphabet that we do. (unlike the Russians, Serbs and Bulgarians).

I was going for Russian, since he mentioned that he works with Russian firms ;)

It's always nice to be able to use some of my high school Russian. With no Cold War anymore, it doesn't come in as handy as, say, Spanish would have. ;)

Awesome... I'm Czech (family moved to the states when I was younger)! I still remember going back and driving my cousins Skoda 120. I always had trouble getting it started (never could figure out the manual choke), but in a strange sort of way it was a blast to drive. My other cousin had a Trabant 601 and that was even better... shifting on the column was the challenge in that car (if you got past the smell of the 2 cycle engine)! The memories...

Na Zdravi!

Vladimir

The Superb looks nice - but cold and hard inside.. I do get Air's point about a car that people find intriguing and are unaware of what it is.. My opinion is that the Equus will be a much more comfortable vehicle for it's passengers than the Superb is...

you tricky tricky. i thought you spoke it!

Dataguy,

You would love my Cell Phone. (Motorola SLVR L9). It is an "unlocked" GRAY MARKET Quad Band phone, that I purchased to replace a locked phone that I needed to change. (see below) The thing you would like, is that the keypad (letter pad part) has both Western (our) Alphabet letters, but also Russian letters. Phone was made by Motorola for the Russian market. You would love the instruction manual, as it is ALL IN RUSSIAN, and I don't read Russian. When I first turned on the phone, everything was in Russian, but the guy in the shop that sold it to me took it, hit a few things in the menu, and voila, everything switched to English. Although I can't read the Russian Owners Manual, I've pretty much figured out how to use the phone. It has given me no problems since I purchased it.

Changed to the L9 because:
1. It has bluetooth, which my other phone does not have, and:
2. When I go to Europe, I can just install a European SIM card (with a European phone number) for cheaper calls. I'll just put my American SIM card in my old phone for use only with emergency incoming calls from the USA.

Bob.
