  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Let me start buy saying that I love my ’18 Genesis G80 Sport. I truly believe the car is by far the best bang for the buck in the sport / luxury combo space. My only issue with the car was the Continental Pro Contacts tires that come with are just garbage. Three blown tires in 6 months. This was resolved after I complained to Genesis and they replaced all the crappy Continentals with Michelin Super Sports.

I’m not going to pretend to know everything about a luxury experience in dealerships. My only experience is with dealing with one of my local Lexus dealerships for a prior car. I don’t really expect much other than integrity, timeliness, and genuine service.

Back to the point. I recently read about the Genesis Difference and I couldn’t stop laughing. Dealing with dealerships have been the bane of my existence. I bought my car from a dealership in Atlanta. I thought it was a straight forward experience; however – I learned that the salesman pretty much lied about a lot of the warranty. The car was used with 75 miles and the salesman said it comes with a new car warranty. Turns out – that was a lie; however – it was my fault not double checking the paperwork. I was eventually able to resolve this. I didn’t want to deal with that dealership anymore after continuous issues (like…. the valet service never being offered…) and I moved on to a different dealership. In the beginning it was good. My expectations were low. Valet service wasn’t offered for any my initial appointments (the excuse was no availability) and maintenance took about 3-5 hours on average even after I made an appointment. I really didn’t care at this point. I can live with it. Recently – the G80 Sport had a recall. I called the dealership and asked if I can do the recall and my general maintenance at the same time. They confirmed that they had the recall parts and said of course. They even offered valet service! Things are looking up. A few hours later, they called. They didn’t have the recall part. They thought they did, but they didn’t. They told me, they will get the part in a few days and I will have my car back in about 4 days and in the meantime, just use the loaner car. It was annoying. They initially confirmed they had the part so I’m not sure how a few hours later they didn’t have the part anymore. Today was the day they were supposed to be done with the recall and maintenance work. They called me and told me, sorry – we didn’t get the recall part. They will just do the maintenance and get my car back to me.

At this point – I am not surprised. Dealing with the dealership is the bane of my existence. It’s worse that dealing with Comcast customer service. The Genesis Difference is a lie. At the end of the day – you are paying less for a Genesis than its luxury peers; but you get the Hyundai experience….and it’s not fun. Hell, it’s even worse than a general Toyota or Mazda dealership.

Also – if anyone has any good recommendations for a genesis dealership in Atlanta, let me know. I DO NOT recommend Rick Case Hyundai/Genesis of Roswell nor Thornton Road Hyundai/Genesis.

I had the same problem with the tires I should have called up genesis. I had two flats in two weeks both blowouts on the sidewall. I'm using Hyundai/Genesis of Kennesaw and they seem ok so far. I'm all the way in midtown and they have been willing to do the valet service.
