  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, I emailed Genesis about my displeasure regarding my 11.4 map version when 13.5 was available. They emailed me back saying I should call Mapnsoft and supplied the phone number. However, when I called that number, I got Magento??? Magento is Mapnsoft's website software supplier. I was told by them that they have nothing to do with the navigation map! They said that Mapnsoft must have screwed up somewhere on how they set up the website's performance. Anyway, I then called Genesis and told them that they gave out the wrong number for Mapnsoft, AND told them that it shouldn't be my responsibility to track down why I don't have an updated navigation map in my new car. Now here's the bottom line: Genesis said that all new cars should have updated maps, AND that one can not determine their car's map version. The version can only be determined by calling Genesis! Furthermore, they said that I do have 13.5. I'd like to be able to determine if I do, indeed, have 13.5; so I'd appreciate hearing from anyone that is sure they have 13.5 and let me know what to look for to prove it's the latest version. Thanks.

Can you post a screenshot of what your setup screen looks like with all the software versions, etc? I should be able to tell you what version you have.

Can't do it tonight, but will tomorrow. Good idea.

There’s several threads already on how to check your nav version, how to get on mapnsoft site to order a new version, how to install etc. The threads are in this sub forum

As @joschneider said there are many threads about map version. I've posted many pics of my Nav screen with different Map and software versions. Map updates have not the same number as Map versions. Read this post with the response of MapNSoft about the discrepancy.

Go to the mapnsoft web site and it will tell you how to check. It will tell you the latest version will read probably 12.4something. It will not say 13.5 even though that is what it is.

I'll tell you what mine is for a G80 but the G70 may differ a bit. 12.47.44.450.204.2

Yes, it is your responsibility to check, just like you check the gas gauge and time for new tires. It really is not hard to do. Better than relying on a CS rep that was just hired last week..

OK, here's the screen shot of the System Info showing Map Version: 11.47.44.465.105.2.
It seems to me that this version is nowhere's near later versions. And if this is so, then the Genesis rep that I recently spoke with about map versions, didn't know what he was talking about as he had said I had the latest version (13.5)???

There is no doubt you have a very old version.
Here is V13

Thanks. Yeah, that certainly is not what I have, even though I was told I had the latest. It now seems to me that Genesis Carcare doesn't know its left from right when giving info about the nav map.

I just spoke with my salesman and he said that the dealership has the latest map version and I should come in to have it uploaded. Well, maybe they do and maybe they don't. Now knowing what version I should be looking for, I'll first confirm that they have this version before making an appointment.

I think you have version 12.5. Not 100%, but it isn't 13.5, I know that. Your dealer isn't going to have them in stock. Updates are on an SD card, and they have to order them by your VIN. So they'll need to order yours ahead of time.

www.mapnsoft.com/genesis Takes 2 days to get it, 30 minutes to install. Free for 3 years.

I've contacted that link several times prior to your help; and each time to no avail as I was told that my car wasn't registered.
For how long have you had your car? Usually takes 6-8 weeks for MapNSoft to register your car.

I know, I know...only have had the car a couple of weeks and will probably have to wait a while. But, unless my dealership is BSing me, they say that I can have an update next week. We will see... BTW, I wonder just where the registration hold up is and why?

Taking a blind guess, but finance deals don't typically get funded right away, so maybe they want to wait until all of that is taken care of?

it took over 6 months for my G80 to be added to that site, and calling Genesis does nothing, they have no control over it, it is mapnsoft that has to take the list of VIN's provided by Hyundai and upload them to the database, and they are very slow at doing this.

It says on mapnsoft that once you enter the VIN# it could take up to a month for the vehicle to show on your account.

But Mapnsoft would not accept my VIN as Genesis has not yet registered the car with them. Car's VIN has to be registered with Mapnsoft so they recognize it.

I went with the Nav that came with my car until the registration was available. It worked fine and I was satisfied with it. I understood updates are occasional at unknown intervals. I understood that through the interaction of several actors the registration may take some time. I assumed that any update would have incremental changes and not elemental changes, which proved to be true. I was willing to wait for my update until others had reported on the process to alert me of any issues. I was patient, in other words.
