  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This thread is for YOU to report sightings of the V8 Genesis. I'd like to hear anything you can tell us. A simple sighting on the road, at a dealership - or even better yet - a personal review.

Annnnd BEGIN! :)

If anyone has any new information on the status of the V-8 Genesis I would love to hear it! I wished they would get them out like right now!

Last week my rep said early Sept. I will be sure to let everyone know when we get ours!

Stopped at a Knoxville Hyundai store today. Salesman says January - and that was based on third hand info.

I'd say that Knoxville Hyundai is wanting to sell V-6's right now.....thus the Jan. date given.

I have seen a few tid bits of info here and there seeming to indicate the V-8's are in the U.S. right now. I wouldn't be surprised if there is an official release date this month before they begin shipping all over the country.

I suppose they let the qtys. build up first so that they can then supply most dealers. Most dealers were originally going to get supplied with one V-8 model to begin with.

One of the dealers in my area is getting two because of the outstanding sales volume that they had. I don't know how long of a period that was for or if it was strictly Genesis sales or all Hyundai vehicles?

I think I'll pull Hyundai Genesis's leg a bit and tell him that he needs to offer a $10,000.00 reward for the first information and sighting of the V-8 Genesis. (Of course with valid proof)

Seriously though it sure would be nice to see something come up soon on the V-8's. Those of us that have been waiting would sure like soemthing to get us all revved up!

I don't know about the rest of you potential V-8 customers out there but I have found that the closer the time gets to when the V-8 Genesis is suppose to arrive the harder it is for me to wait!!!

I sure hope its sooner rather than later!

Well I finally got to test drive a 4.6 V8 Genesis yesterday morning. I would never beat a brand new engine..........just the way I am. I could tell however a difference between it and the V6 I drove a few weeks back. I would almost say that the throttle is very touchy except that it is just something you have to get use to is all. I barely turned out of the dealerships driveway when I hit a red light immediately. When the light changed to green I barely pushed on the throttle and got a nice little chirp from the rear tires.

When I say the accelerator is touchy you have to understand I have not driven a car with 300 or more horsepower since my 1971 Pontiac GTO that I got clear back when I was in high school. It's simply a case of getting re-adjusted back into something with some horsepower to it. When I took the on ramp to get on to the interstate it was with such little effort to get up to speed it just made me smile!
My take on the Genesis ride was very smooth in the city at lower speeds. The interstate is rough with a constant wash board effect on it. The previous winter was very hard here in Iowa on all of our highways. There are very few that I can honestly say that are considered to be smooth. On that rough interstate stretch I did notice in the rear view mirror that my wife and son were being bounced around in the back seat quite noticeably.

I took a tire gauge along and was going to check the tire pressures before we left but I was so excited to drive the V8 Genesis that I forgot all about it.

The ride is a stiffer ride than my 2006 Azera for sure. Of course many people complained about the floaty feeling for that year of Azera. Hitting a large bump in the Azera with 4-5 passengers would be a softer jolt however you might get bounced up and down a couple of times from just one bump thus the floating up and down feeling.

The Genesis seems to have more of a harsh one time jolt but not the floating feeling afterwards. So how do I feel about the ride? I feel like with the short drive I took I can't make a fair assessment. I found myself wishing it was smoother at times although here again I was comparing it to my Azera which I had grown use to. The Azera on the other hand was not something you could push around corners. It just had to much body lean to it I always thought. The Genesis feels more stable through turns.

I guess I am thinking that they tuned the Genesis right where they said they were going to, sort of in the middle. I think since that seems to be the case that is why we are getting some comments that the ride is to rough and still others saying they would prefer a stiffer ride.

The car had the tech pkg. but that has been talked about quite a bit so I won't go into that at all. I will say I did notice the difference in the premium leather seats as my wife did as well. It's not that we could notice the difference just sitting in the seats but by touching them with your hands you find yourself running your hand over them. They are very soft and very smooth feeling to the touch. If you look at them closely you will see they don't have the rougher textured look (or feel) of the standard leather seats.

The engine was very smooth and quite. The transmission was so smooth I really could not feel shift points. As mentioned earlier the throttle response is instant and strong. The extra chrome on the side of this black Genesis looked very nice as did the different wheels it comes with. The wood steering wheel like my Azera felt nice in hand. Ok I think its fake but still feels nice and smooth in the hands.

I felt the rear vents and no hot air coming out as some had reported even when set on cool. The lit up Genesis logos in the doors certainly isn't needed really but I have to admit looks very cool and is a nice touch. Well I guess that's about it. I'm just waiting yet for my dealer to locate my 4.6 Genesis

was this car a production version or pre-production? what color was the interior and if it was black did it have the brown swash across the dash and into the doors??

thanks...

Yes it was a production car and the interior was black with the dark brown leather dash.

I actually own a Black Noir Genesis 4.6 V-8, one of very few if any in Oklahoma City, OK and just love it! It is everything that was mentioned and more.

I picked up my 4.6 black/black with Tech on Halloween night. The car is better than I expected and I was expecting a lot! Fast, smooth, comfortable and the sound system is unbelievable. Before the Genesis I hardly ever listen to music while I am driving. Now it is all changed. I have the music on as soon as I get into the car. I still have my other car - Audi A6 but it seems so cruel and rough now.

THE TAU!

Ok, here is my take on the V8!

Holy moly what an engine...what a car...what next???

I am so amazed as to the raw horsepower that we can get out of this car. The Mustang GT has only 300 hp and 320 lbs. of torque. I have 375hp and 333 lbs. of torque out of the SAME 4.6L!!! Yes, the Mustang will get to 60 quicker due to weight and gearing but I would guarantee that if we start at 60 and go from there that it would be a flat out race with Hyundai leading by a nose!! I dont think the mustang will make it to 160mph though!

This car is quick! This weekend as we were headed to Memphis I had a little taste of all this HP. I was in the slow lane cruising about 80 mph with a car just in front of me. Well, the wife was laid back asleep in the passenger side and I just wanted to see how well it would pass a car. So I dumped the pedal...HOLY SCHNIKIES:eek:...I swerve left to keep from nailing the car's bumper in front of me and before my heart slowed down I was doing almost 130 mph.:o I looked at my wife and she is stilled laid back but she is giving me the eye at this point. Of course, I had to let off. From that point on, I had yet another HUGE smile on my face about the purchase of this car.:D

The v8 is great off the line and to 60 but above that...it is HOLY TERROR! Especially to me...coming from a 4 cyl. 5-speed camry.

Now, when can I get my hands on the supercharger???:)

Anywho, I could go on for days about the TAU! Hope this helped on any decision making process!!

Being that the Genesis is a heavy car (all luxury cars are), with the amount of horsepower it has, more of the power is going to be noticeable at higher speeds. I'm very impressed by what I'm hearing. :)

Hey Guys,
Being a 4.6L V8 owner for 5 weeks now, I've had the chance to press the "fast forward" pedal a few times. I totally agree with the comments above. Coming from a '02 Maxima 6-spd (which is already fast enough), I was really amazed with the punch of the V8 getting onto the highway. In Ontario, we have a law that is unpopular with some. That is, if you're caught over 150km/h (that's 92mph for my American friends), you get your vehicle impounded on the spot for 7 days and you pay $5K in fines. With this in mind, I tested the speed from 110-150km/h (68-92mph). It only takes 4 seconds for me to lose my license if I pass somebody at cruising speed. 80-120km/h comes up in 3.8s (when starting in 3rd gear). I can confirm that this is faster than a new G37S (as my embarrased friend will confess)!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
You beat a G36S? And MAN that law sucks! I mean - it's great for one reason, but bad for another. It's probably better off..... Thank you for the review!

That is horsepower at work. Starting off from a standstill, torque is key. When on the move, horsepower takes over.

Its fun to watch cars disappear in my rear view mirror. At least they get to see the "4.6" (with a sharp eye) on the rear of the car as it vanishes into the distance...
