  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The glass on the vehicle seems like someone took sandpaper to it....never seen such scratched glass....can't help but wonder what the heck that's about.

You can feel every bump and crack on the road. EVERY ONE. The slightest bump in the road makes the steering wheel jump around....

The carfax to this car shows they had an alignment just 3 months into ownership. My Merc never had an alignment in it's 10 year life.

Too much nanny control. Was needing to take a right to enter a busy street, cars would not stop coming...saw my opening and kinda floored it...car acted like it almost died then accelerated after 2 seconds...almost got hit.

Welcome! Thank you for your post. These have all been mentioned before in other posts if you read around (aside from the scratchy glass...odd). I will leave this here for a while to see if it gains speed then merge it with the lengthy problems thread here: http://genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=2792

Again, welcome to the forums!!

Did you look at the glass before you bought the car?
Did you take it for a long test ride??

How many miles on the car when you bought it, a month ago?
Was this a Hyundai CPO, or a used one from another car dealer?

More info needed.

I just bought a 2011 4.6 with 30K. Glass is flawless on my car. Even on the 4.6 the nannies are abundant. I noticed the ZF six speed wants to shift into second gear almost immediately. People have debated exhaustively on here about the ride, but I find it improves immensely with extra people or weight in the car.

Yes I looked at the glass..seemed fine and it does seem fine most of the time unless the sun hits it the right way and you can see thousands of little scratches.

Took it on a test drive, took the 5.0 sedan on one as well. The 5.0 seemed to be a bit of a better ride. I'm guessing the huge tires which are about an inch from concrete...my Merc did not tolerate bad roads very well but better. Thought the weight difference would make up for it but the car seems much lighter when it is not.

car had 21,000 miles on it. It's a certified one owner. Not ragging on it by any means. Just reporting what I am finding as I go along.

For the price it's a good car. I think it is a bit silly to compare it to a high end car though. Maybe one day!

In the end, I don't think there are many 400 plus HP cars with a hint of luxury out there....

Microfiber cloths used at car washes to clean windows can disintegrate and leave tiny fibers behind on your glass. Try a thorough spot cleaning of part of your window (inside and out) to see if that is the problem. Tinted windows can be a challenge because you can't use ammonia (standard Windex) on them.

When accelerating hard, push the pedal a bit more slowly. After some practice you'll find the right technique. Stomping is not the right technique.

Guessing someone tried "cleaning" the glass with an abrasive. You might be able to polish some of it out if not too badly damaged.

The R-spec has a strong suspension and it also has very low profile summer tires. That combination is going to give a rough ride over bad roads. Not much you can do about the suspension but you could replace the tires with a more compliant sidewall and perhaps run a bit less air pressure.

Could have been misaligned from the factory or the previous owner was a bit critical. Check tire wear to see if you might have a problem otherwise don't worry about it.

429 HP is a lot of get up and go so I won't argue the nanny issues with you. You might head out to a vacant parking lot and try different throttle setting to see which works best for fast getaways. My R-spec acts a lot like a turbo lagged car. Nothing happens for a fraction of a second then it plants your eyeballs in the back of your head. I would never nail the throttle while turning unless there is plenty of room to surf. And even with all that HP, testing it with an oncoming vehicle doesn't seem to make sense to me.

I bought my '12 R-spec new in December of 2012 and have not had even the smallest problem with it. It is full of bells and whistles though and does take some getting used to if you use all its features (which I admittedly do not do). Just turned 10,000 miles. Although it is full of features I will probably never use it is the nicest car I have ever owned and has been good to me so far.

Perhaps...I've still noticed it after a car wash though....I'll polish it and see if that helps.

You're right, stomping it just gets the car into overdrive and there's a lag....

I'm getting better!!

Will polish it out the best I can...

I think the tires are very inflated, their hard as a rock...I bet I could let some out and it would change the ride a bit.

I don't think it wanted me to floor it with the wheel turned all the way to the right lol...car was like "haha, no"

Yeah it's a pretty cool car.....I'm getting lots of compliments!

**** ALL Genesis badges on it ....most people just want to know what the hell kinda car is that???!?!? *****

The microfiber towels I'm talking about are used to clean windows AFTER the car wash. Such towels are washed frequently and incorrectly. As a result, they break down and shed fibers. Yeah, they don't leave lint, just thousands of tiny fibers!
