  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

So, I've had a pretty good year with the 4.6, other than radio related issues. (Hyundai ended up putting an entirely new Lexicon in my car last month...still have intermittant lock-up of radio after voice commands are issued.)

I'm up to 76,500 miles.

My issue is long-term reliability...not so much mechanical, but the electronics. Just so afraid of a $3,000 repair.

Considering a 2009 M35 or LS460. However, there is a nice Lexus GS450h with 85,000 miles on it that has recently come available in my area at a very competitive price.

I drove it and really liked it. The 450h comes with basically everything. Rear seat legroom is a little tighter than I wanted, but I think my 12 and 15 year old will fit fine.

A google search on reliability of the Hybrid Synergy Drive and system yields pretty much all positive things. There is even some indication that Lexus is warranting the batteries for life (vs. the 100,000 warranty stated in manual).

Same on overall reliability for the GS. Super solid.

Thoughts?

Clark Howard always says that the cheapest car is the one you already own. So, if economics is truly the driver, then the Genesis is likely the winner, no matter how you slice it. But, if you are liking the Infiniti or Lexus, and interested in a changes of clothes, then go for it. Both are very good cars.
