  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello everyone. I'v been contemplating buying a 2012 Equus. My only main concern is the air suspension which is far far cheaper to repair than my lexus LS I sold. Its a rare car and Iv heard parts are hard to find. But a lot of mechanics say Hyundai has begun to make really reliable cars. Im just wondering if the Equus is one of them, minus suspension. I'v got a medical condition and need air suspension and something really quiet.
Its got 120,000 miles on it and the dealer wants 13,500 to my door. I dont plan on driving a lot and was wondering what people thought.

Hello Roadeo, you are correct. It's not "if" but "when" the air suspension will go out. There are many of us who have used RMT for reman OE air struts. The car is definitely quiet with a cushy ride.

How much RTM and to put them in?, when I read forums about the Equus it it looked like a little over a grand for the front and the same for the rear. It seems like regular shocks, not like with my stupid lexus to put them in.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
My fronts from RMT were $700 before core refund. The labor to install/calibrate will depend on your particular indy.

Thats not bad. Considering normal struts are 300 bucks each. My indy shop could do it and I think they can program most anything. The only other thing that I read was engines on these sometimes go bad, burn oil, smoke.
If its like a Genesis but just with the suspension Id be sold if thats the cost of the suspension. Theres on in Mass for 13 grand with 120,000 on it delivered. Maybe too many miles, guess they arnt exactly toyotas. But timing chain, variable valve timing, seems advance enough of a car.

Other than front suspension, I've been fortunate to not have any other major issues. The Equus is definitely packed with luxury. At 120K, I'd check to see if the timing chain has been replaced.
