  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2008 Mercedes C350 that is coming of lease soon. I've heard great things about the Genesis, so I took it for a test drive. I drove both the V6 and V8 versions. I loved the V8 and am seriously considering leasing it. It had all the option packages. I'm curious about a few things from those who have had a Genesis for a while.

One of my biggest pet peeves is a car that rattles / squeaks over time. My Mercedes has been like a vault these past two years. Are you finding that the Genesis is holding up well in this area? If not, how have the dealers been at fixing any rattle / squeak issues?

Have their been any glaring problem areas - mechanical, electronic, etc.?

Would you buy / lease another one?

Thanks for your help. I was incredibly surprised by the car - especially the V8. One thing I forgot to mention - I thought that the ride quality was slightly odd. It was almost like it rode a bit stiff on super-smooth surfaces, but when the road got bumpy and rough, it smoothed out really well. I wondered if maybe the tires had flat-spotted from sitting a while...

I've owned my car since January and I have to say, not only that this is the most quite car i've been in, but there are no rattle's at all, making it that quite:D

I've had no glare issues. A couple of members have mentioned the tiny chrome trim around the vents causing glare, but I have not experienced this (not saying it hasn't happened to others).

I just had the car to 130mph a couple of days ago on a bumpy road, and the car handled very well at that speed. I was even impressed.

I would say lease a V6. You will get 90% of what you need, and since it's a rental, you'll be turning it in anyway, so why pay up for things like Backup camera and Nav, when you can buy a $100 Garmin to tell you where to go.
The V8 is like a vault. The doors make a great sound when they close, the car is silent and smooth, but you can throw the car around if you need to which is surprising considering how big it is.
As for the V8, it's nice to have, and fun if you wanna drop the hammer down. It's pretty much uneccesary, though. If you need to drive like a maniac all the time, get the coupe, or some time at a racetrack to get your speed fix.

I agree that we're "overpowered", but there's also better brakes, leather, LSD to consider too. For $2000 more I'd say why not?

I drove both, but I really like the smooth sound of the V8 versus the V6. I love electronic "gizmos" in cars, so nav, backup camera, park distance control, etc. are pretty much mandatory items for any purchase / lease. I still can't believe how impressive that car was for $42K. That's why I started this post - I kept hearing that old saying, "if it's too good to be true ..." in my head.

Hey! Don't forget:

The wheels:cool:

Illuminated door sill scuff plates

Wood-trimmed leather steering wheel

Chrome bodyside moldings

Upgraded leather (2009 only I think)

I can't really talk to the V8 but just hit 12,000 miles on the six and have only great things to say about this car. Power, fit/finish, handling, smooth ride, trouble-free etc, I could not be happier....as good as any of the luxury cars I've leased over the past 20 years. Plus I enjoy the idea of driving a Hyundai.

My wife has a 2007 CLK350 we bought "certified" w/ 6100 miles on it. I have a 4.6L Genny w/ technology package (Titanium w/ Black). She has "badge envy" so could care less about my Hyundai. What bugs her is we (and she when she has driven it) ALWAYS, I mean EVERY TIME we go out, someone approaches us about my car. :D

Women seem to love her car (white w/ black rag top), and guys literally drool over my Genny. Get the 4.6 w/ tech. I love mine (12/08 & 10K miles)

Have had my Genisis V6 since 11/08 32,000 miles not a rattle or squeak and on long trips will get 30-31 mpg.

Our 6 mt old 4.6 tech package Gennie with more than 10K miles has had zero problems and is still as quiet as the day purchased. Note the miles and understand we purchase - no lease here. The V8 is getting about 20 mpg during LA freeway driving (<20 mph bumper-to-bumper traffic) and with California's stage 4 summer gas. (10% lower mpg compared to 49 state gas) Our former POS Lincoln LS V8 got about 11 - 14 mpg in the same traffic. On the few open road trips it seems to sip gas, but no full tank trips so far and so no feedback on extended mpg. We paid ~$38K plus TTL for our every option car back in March. OBTW, the metal flake in our Ti Gray paint is awesome. About once a week someone asks us about the car and can't believe the bang/$.

Thanks for all the feedback and information. After reading the press-release regarding the 2010 model, I'm inclined to wait. I'd really like to see what they do with the suspension "tweaks." But the lease deals on a loaded 2009 4.6 are pretty amazing. So, we'll see what happens. I have a feeling that I'll end up with this car though - either an 09 or a 10. The more I think about it and read about it, the more I think it's probably the right car for me at this time. And the dealer has been great so far.

Do you mind sharing what kind of lease deals that you have been getting on the 4.6 + tech? I will be looking myself in October for 36 months, 15K miles/year and zero down. I was told that the 4.6 was waaaay higher than the 3.8 + tech by my local dealer. I am leaning to the 2010 also.

Story in today's Wall St. Journal about Toyota's 4thQ 2009 marketing blitz...they will be spending $1 billion on advertising and marketing support including subsidizing lease deals. This will put pressure on other makers so you may see some sweet lease deals.

My memory may be a bit faulty, but I believe it was $2500 down and either $529 or $539 per month with 12K/year for 36 months. I may be off a few $$ or miles, but that's pretty close. It was a fully-loaded 4.6. We didn't talk money factors, residuals, etc.

Leased a V8+tech pkg in July:

Based on "agreed upon" price found under "Gross Capitalized cost" of $39,200.

36 months/ 15k miles/yr:

I paid/pay:

$1440 down, $619 per month

(so about $24,000 for the use of it for 3 years)

Were I to decide to purchase the Genny at the end of the lease (not my plan) the ultimate cost will be $43,728

My likely plan is to enjoy a new lease vehicle, maybe the Equus by then:D
