Thought headrest was sprung. Nope, just internally busted.

Howdy-

My passenger headrest started rattling on bumpy roads. I thought this was a sprung headrest, so I took it out today. Not sprung--the padded part is still nested in the plastic frame.


The headrest body is quite loose on its 2 metal rods. I can pull the headrest body up, sideways, diagonal, or flap it fore & aft like a bell & listen to it clank on the rods.

I removed the headrest from the seat, & it rattled like a maraca. Shaking caused several fractured black plastic parts to rattle around & then work their way down to fall out of the 2 slots at the bottom of the headrest.

The headrest is only tenuously & loosely connected to the metal rods, as if it were just resting atop the rods.


Clearly the metal rods anchor (used to anchor...) into a not-adequately-strong plastic bracket inside there... :\

I have no idea how it failed.


Any known path to repair this vs. replace the whole assembly?
A piece in there is obviously busted, but is that piece one that can be accessed & replaced to repair the assembly?
