  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tighten doors

Both front doors on my 2013 Genny have developed an annoying wind noise. Driving on a slushy road it almost sounds like the door is open a bit.

I know I can take the car back to the dealer but I thought I'd see about tightening the doors up myself, no big deal.

I take a look, no striker bolt or pin. Just a "U" shaped bracket with no visible way of loosening or tightening. Most G.M.'s just require an allen key or small pipe wrench and you're good to go, loosen the pin a bit, move it inwards and tighten it. Not in this case.

Any suggestions on how to adjust the door?

Get the Dealer to the job. Its their responsibility. If you mess it up then they will charge you to fix it.

Thanks for your input Stone but that's not what I asked.

If you know how to adjust the striker I'd appreciate that info.

Interesting, no idea either but have you tried looking through the troubleshooting section of the factory service manual?

Any idea where a person can access a manual online?

I'd consider buying a digital manual if the cost was reasonable.

Ok here is how to get to the bolts. Using a thin blade carefully pry up the black plastic cover around the silver striker plate on the b pillar and you will see the bolts. Remember if you adjust them, then the outside sheet metal may not match up. I would first check all the door rubber weatherstrip for damage or it being crushed or out of line with where it attaches.
