  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok time for me to pull the trrigger on some new tires for my 09 4.6
My main considerations are Ride Comfort and Road Noise.
I have dedicated winter tires so these will be summer use only but up here in Canada that means All Season Tires !
I have been looking at Grand Touring Tires like the Serenity Plus and Conti Pure Contact Eco Plus as well as the Michelin Primacy MXV4
The MXV4's don't seem to be available on Tire Rack at the moment though

So,I've read all the tire threads and am just looking for the latest opinions.:D

What do the experts here think ?

I don't think that Michelin makes the Primacy MXV4 in the same exact size as the Genesis OEM 18" tires (235/50R18). For those with 17" Base trim wheels, it does come in 225/55R17.

Thanks Mark, that explains it !!
So now it looks like it's between the Continentals and the Serenity plus

Any comments on Noise and Ride between the two tires ?

can only offer my own opinion on the Contis which is thumbs up. have not experienced Serenity. gut says it would be hard to go wrong with either one ...

any reviews of the Pirelli Cinturato P7 tires on a Genesis ?
Tire Rack rates them very high but I haven't seen any comments here yet...
Some tires seem to have a better synergy with the Genesis for road noise, pulling etc...

I recently put my second set of Serenity Plus tires on my Genesis. 62k on the first set. I think the fact that I bought the same tire again says it all.

If you want ride comfort and road noise to be better than the "ultra high performance all season" tire, then for sure consider a "touring tire". They are much quieter and ride way better (this is as a group, as some touring tires will suck from every aspect). It appears the "higher" performance tires have the most noise and ride the hardest. Of course there are exceptions to everything, but, again, as a "group" touring tires will satisfy most of us and serve us much better.
For the 1% who want the absolute best "performance" for cornering, acceleration, handling, etc. then they must have the "highest" performance tire they can get. Even though in reality most of them drive like the other 99% of us the majority of the time.
The Genesis is a big, heavy, mostly luxury car with decent power but not a drag car or a road track car, but, there are those who insist on trying to make the Genesis one or the other.
Sorry for rambling, and best of luck.

i just put on a set of Continental Pure Contact Eco Plus tires, about three months ago, and really like these tires! i think they are well suited for the car and most of our driving styles. they are quiet, smooth riding tires, and they grip in wet and dry conditions really well. they balanced nicely, and i think they handle just fine.

are they for racing around corners, and screaming through S curves? probably not. but are we all really driving like this, these days? :)
