  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have called to the reputable tint shops in the area and I'm getting a mixture of responses, so I thought I'd check with the forum....

I've got a quote for $150 for the sides and rear window. The film is Llumar ATR and there is a lifetime warranty. This has a blend of metallic and ceramic inputs, but the installer tells me that they have installed the film on countless BMWs, Mercedes, etc. without any problems.

Question: Will the Llumar ATR impact my navigation, cell, or DIS in any way?

Thanks in advance. I picked up my 2011 Genesis Wednesday and this forum was very helpful in arming me with the right information prior to pick-up.

Do not use any film that has metal in it. It does interrupts the functions of the electronics, need to go the next generation of film, that has ceramics:welcome:

Metalized on the side windoes OK, NON metalized on the back. That is how I had mine done. Same tint and can't tell the difference.

Don't use metalized tint on the back. I made this mistake on my previous car. Everything worked fine but my radio had lots of static.

Thanks for the comments and advice.

I have an appointment set to install the Llumar CTX (Access) film. This is designed not to interfere with signals and electronics. It is a ceramic film.

I'm putting 30 on the sides and rear windows. Total cost = $189

That's nice, as long as it is guaranteed to not interfere with electronics, radio specifically. Hyundai will not honor the warranty if it does.
Not worth the risk to me, but it may be to you.
Good luck!

To RichRK, the OP of this thread - be sure to give us a follow-up report after you've had your tint for a week or two. Thanks!

No problem, I will come back and provide an update. I am having the tint installed this Saturday (3/26), and I can provide some pictures and discuss any interference issues.

I have spoken with a rep from the tint company and from Llumar (the manufacturer of the tint), and both have assured me that the specific tint I am using is made specifically for cars with navi, bluetooth, etc.

Here is a link to the specs for the tint:

I'm using the Charcoal 30 CTX on sides and rear window.

I recently had Llumar ATR 30 put on the side and back windows of my 2011 4.6. This apparently was a mistake. I can't listen to AM radio now. The reception/sound quality is too bad. Other electronics seem to work okay. The installer, who has been is business for 25 years, told me they have had no problems of this film interfearing with any car electronics --- I think he lied!! Since he does not carry and install Llumar CTX film, I must now try to find someone else who does and have the back glass film changed out and see it that solves my problem.

It could be a bad amp or headunit. My headunit got replaced twice because my AM stations didn't work properly.
