  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi guys. I'm thinking about getting my windows tinted. I have 2015 Parisian Grey 5.0 Ultimate w Ivory interior. Anybody have suggestions or things I should consider? Never had my windows done on any other car. My last car Acura TL had black leather which took a beating from the Georgia Sun for 8 years. If you have a Parisian Grey with tinted windows, please post some pics. I don't want it to be too dark seeing out at night, but some protection in the day would be great. Thanks for any suggestions...comments!

Do a search here for tinting. There have been some recent threads that explain a lot of the details and material differences. Also, Google p your state laws as most have some limits on how dark you can go.
There are carbon based and ceramic based films, the consensus is the ceramic are generally better.

Dareck thats about what I'm looking for. Looks good against that new red. Did you do the windshield also?

No, I never tint windshield, it's illegal in state of Illinois.

How do you not get pulled over in Illinois for not having a front plate?

Iirc, it was back in late 90's, I had a Mustang GT 5.0 convert. and I was still living in the City, CPD gave me a $25 ticket for not having a front plate. That was it.
Since then, I wasn't bothered by anyone, I lived in Prospect Hights and last 10 years in Romeoville. Maybe because, I was driving ~60k cars from that time? and none of my cars were/are "police magnet"? I don't know.

In my town now, I know a few officers and they know me too. They don't care about those things.

Lol.....I must be one lucky SOB! :whistling:

What percentage is that? (Any specs on film you used?)
That would get you pulled over here in Georgia.:)

I have 35 percent tint which is legal in our neck of the woods.

I have very bright white overhead LED garage lamps shining in the car through the windshield so the front windows look more visible in the picture.

Is there much of a difference between 30% and 25%?

Just tad darker, but enough to get you a ticket in Georgia if cop wants to be a jerk.

Texas is legal at 25%, but my car has 30% (was a California car). Not sure if it is worth the extra 5%. Local shop is asking $150 for the tint and $125 to strip the old tint.

I Advise using the max allowable tint for your state and ensuring its ceramic. The ceramics films are not susceptible to tint fading and have very high reduction of heat from infrared sources. You can also use a tintless ceramic film for the front windshield for maximal heat reduction.

It can be pricey, but it's well worth it in this Texas heat. I think I spent around 500 to cover all the windows and the windshield (30% on all sides and tintless on the windshield.

I'm mostly just cheap. Will consider ceramic as a replacement tint in the future.

I understand your reasoning, but how it it looking out at night? That is my only concern. No tint it not bad here in New England but I'm moving south in the fall where tint would be nice to have.
