If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey everyone,

I'll be going to NC to spend a week in a cabin. I'm thinking about buying some tire chains just in case of any bad weather.

Do any of you guys have any recommendations? I saw some on Amazon that has good reviews.

Also, what's the recommendation for putting the chains on an AWD? Should I put the chains on all tires? I'll probably not need to use them, but you never know!

You actually can't put chains on a Genesis (I have a RWD but I don't know why it would be different for AWD) from my understanding after asking our dealer awhile back. You have to use snow socks, which work just as well, as chains can damage the tire pressure monitoring system.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I have a '13 rwd with really lousy traction and use chains occasionally. My guess is that with the AWD you would probably be OK without chains. If you choose chains you can use cable chains without issue and just on the rear if you just need them for traction. Don't drive over 25MPH with them installed.

I would start with a good set of dedicated winter tires before considering chains. You will be amazed at the difference.

I have AWD and drove in 8-10 of snow for about an hour and was passing SUVs and trucks ,this car is incredible in snow . Don't waste your money

Came across these and thought they were an interesting concept for back up or the occasional user https://zipgripgo.com/
Cheap, easy on/off, kind of a takeoff on the old strap on chain bars.
