Tire pressure thoughts

I would like to ask what you think about tire pressure.

I have the Michelin tires that came on my car. They do great in corning, stopping and accelerating. But they are very noisy on some roads and the ride is rough. When I got the car, it had 37 lbs pressure in the tires. I adjusted them all to 33 psi. They weren't as bad. I took the car to the dealer for it's first (free) service. Came back with 36 psi in tires. Again I adjusted them to 33 psi. All these pressures were after sitting overnight. I got to thinking about my 84 Mercedes that calls for 28 psi front and 30 psi rear. Now, I know it is an older car, but it rides much better then the Genesis. Anyway, I adjusted the Genesis tires to 30 psi and there is a world of difference in the ride and the noise. It still handles great but is a lot quieter and smoother. I am sure they won't last as long at the reduced pressure but that's OK with me, I hate them anyway. I am sure the MPG will drop some but that is OK also.

At 30lbs you might run the tire at a higher temp. at highway speeds which might cause some drive ability problems. .... If your satisfied with the ride at 30lbs I don't think it will hurt it much except for tire wear. I keep mine at 35lbs and are happy with the results.

Mine have been dealer-set to 36-37 psi cold, 41-42 psi after a few miles. Seems kinda' high to me... but I have no complaints.

Just an off topic thought - since we have telemetered tire pressure already, it would be nice if they would include tire temperature too. Shouldn't cost much more to add a temp sensor. Something for the G90...

When I test drove my car, mine were that high. Rode TERRIBLE. You'll likely also get excess center wear with pressure that high too.

I've been running mine at around 34 cold. 37 once warmed up feels like a guy spot and treadwear looks nice and even.

Side story: I was at a local gas station last night, they have those free air machines with the digital tire pressure setting (really nice). But anyway, I was waiting my turn and the guy in front of me had an Audi S3 with 19s I believe and he was airing them up COLD to 41lbs. That little aspect ratio and that pressure has to feel terrible on any road. Not to mention that jarring of a ride makes for a rattly interior after a few years. I died a little inside..

i dont have nitrogen so i run mine at 33 cold and 37 when warm. ride is great and smooth.
