  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Cold weather morning (for us in south east Texas at least😂). Tire pressure light came on for one tire at 28. Filled to 32 like all the other tires but warning light for that one tire will not clear. All pressures are reading the same but it still says that one tire is low. Any ideas on why it won’t clear. I’ve driven it several times (meaning I’ve parked it and restarted several time). Figured it would clear eventually, but no luck!

Not sure why it didn’t clear but 32 is low for this car. My door sticker says 35 front and 39 rear. Actually seems to ride better at the sticker pressures for me which really surprised me. I thought 32 would have been better as well.

I would set them to the door pressures, drive it and the light should reset. A lot of thought goes into those pressures by the engineers who designed this car.

Probably have to get to 35 to clear. 32 is too low for the low profile tires. Lower pressure also increases the risk of rim damage on a pothole.

Same issue here with first cold weather this winter. One was at 29, others at 32-35. Set all to 34, still illuminated. Pressure sticker says 36F, 38 R and I put all at 1 pound above sticker and they reset and I dropped the one pound on all and all was good. The trigger for my tires is somewhere 29-32. At that point full pressure must be attained. There was a post somewhere on this site that informed me when I searched for the issue.

It automatically clears when it is filled back to correct pressure, 35F/39R. Mine became low at 29F/32R due to cold weather so I filled them back to sticker. After that on a drive, air warms up and expanded and then they read 39F/43R. My OCD wouldn't allow me to continue with that so I deflate trying to find that number but then again once air gets cold it compresses. You could go back and forth with it trying to find that sweet spot and that's probably what has to happen especially if weather changes are a factor.

Common to go 4 over after driving a while. Never had a problem and they go back overnight. I always went with the sticker at cold and never worried about hot. That is normal and over is safer than under.

Yes, there is a reason they specify cold inflation pressure, not hot. Anyone that is reducing the hot tire pressure to the cold inflation pressure, is under-inflating their tires.

I have mine set up for winter driving, modifying to 39 psi cold all around.

When I picked mine up in September the dealer told me 33 psi front 35 psi rear and set them to such at deliver…hmmm.
Car makers run their test cars on tracks, city streets, highways for many thousand miles. Do you think the dealer did that to come up with his pressure recommendation?

Tire pressure on the door sticker is based on GVWR. Unless you are running at GVWR, a lower pressure MAY be better. Anyone who has owned more than one set of tires and more than one vehicle knows the best pressure for your actual application can vary from what the manufacturer recommended based on GVWR. Not all tires are equal when it comes to construction or wear. The manufacturer can't give you every scenario possible. They give a very good average based on the GVWR. If you want to use that as gospel, you will rarely be disappointed, but there are certainly times when it's not best.

As far as hot vs. cold pressure, fill at cold pressure and don't worry about the few extra PSIs gained at operating temps. Now, if you are gaining huge numbers, investigate as to what is going on as that is not normal. Do not fill tires based on hot pressure reading though.

Or maybe from the two placards in the door sill…33 front 36 rear cold.

You would have to be bereft of common sense to do that. But maybe common sense is not so common.

I use the placard on the door with OEM-size tires. My Veloster stated different pressures based on load. That is in the manual. I follow the manual since the engineer's know more than I do.
