Looking to pull the trigger on some 22 x 9" wheels and slightly wider tires (265 series) for summer.
To maintain close to the same diameter as stock 21" tires, I would need to go with 265/35/22, and that would result in +1% larger diameter but the sidewall would be smaller by .3", and in turn, firmer ride. Not sure I want to sacrifice that much ride quality. Therefore, was thinking of going with a larger tire, 265/40/22, of which there are many more options available, but the diameter difference is +4.5% (outside the recommended max of 3%), but the sidewall is .2" greater than the stock 21" tires, thus hopefully helping with ride quality. Other bonus is that there is slightly less chance of a damaged wheel due to poor roads. Supplier confirms this will fit, so not seeking advice on aesthetics, ride or fitment.
Question is this to those knowledgeable with vehicle mechanics - other than the speedometer showing a slower speed than actual, is there any risk to mechanical systems on the car if I have 4 larger diameter tires (ie. the 265/40/22), but all the same size on all 4 corners?
Thanks in advance.
