  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

New here - I just picked up a 2012 3.8 Tech and loving it so far. So much car for not a lot of money. I did a quick search and didn't see much discussion in regards to tires, so.....

The car came with Michelin Energy Saver A/S and I'm not fond of them. What are people getting for their 18's and why?

There have been quite a few discussions of tires in this forum. You might want to try google search using genesisowners.com domain.

It might be best for you to explain what concerns you have about the OEM Michelins to get useful recommendations. Different people value different things in a tire (to put it mildly).

The michelins are a bit noisy and the grip/wet performance leaves something to be desired.

Looking for quiet and smooth, wet grip (dont care about snow), tread wear, in that order.

I've got my eyes on:

Bridgestone Turanza Serenity
Pirelli Cinturato P7

A lot of people on this forum like the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity.

I read that thread and didn't really find what I was looking for.

Did you hear that Crusty? It was not what he was looking for.

But did you know that when you answered his original post? ;)
If so, then please explain how your Jedi mind reading trick works.

Scott,
There's a lot of info in that thread and basically where everyone has posted. There are a few individual threads but not as detail as that one. Sorry that you can't find an answer. maybe no one has tried the tires you've mentioned.

I can't really answer your question as my R Spec came with Bridgestone SO4 pole positions. I've switched to Conti DW and got a little more mileage out of them. But I am more of a performance oriented driver.

I think you need to tell us what your desires are for the Tire. For myself I wanted an All Season Tire that was decent in the snow, so I didn't have to fool with separate snow tires. Also I wanted a Tire that was quiet on the highway. The Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Plus fit the bill perfectly for me. Check out this Tire Rack Survey of Grand Touring All Season Tires where this tire is Number #1 in that category.

I know that there have been many threads created on the subject of tires (especially smooth riding tires), and I don't see the need for me to find them all for the OP. Not everyone knows that using Google search on this forum works quite well instead of the forum search engine.

KnowScott already replied that he is "Looking for quiet and smooth, wet grip (dont care about snow), tread wear, in that order."

My car had a new set of Pirelli P Zero Nero's when I bought it a month ago. I am not an all-season tire type of person, but I have been thoroughly with these. Their wet performance is the most impressive aspect of all. (I have gone speeds in the rain that would get me publicly flogged.) I have only 2 complaints. They flat spot when they sit. Under normal weather conditions, (Houston) that rolls itself out by the time I leave my neighborhood. When cold it takes about 1.5 miles. After that they are smooth. The second issue is cornering stability. Although this could be exasperated by the 50 series sidewall, and the notoriously squirrely front and rear sub frames. If you are into all season tires I would give them a look.

Great link here. Looking between this and the Bridgestone Tauranza Serenity Plus. I have the Pirelli P Zero Nero and they are LOUD and worn down to needing replacement.

I love the Pirelli P7's. Discount was out of the Michelin Supersports so I tried the AS3 (W speed version) and I found them noisy and "nervous" (I'm sure some would call that same characteristic "sporty"...call it what you want, I didn't like it). I asked for and was given a switch out to the Pirellis. I find the Pirelli P7s to be smooth, some acceptable noise and are good, straight line trackers.
