  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
Equus (2011-2016)
I am ready to buy a set of tires for my Equus 2016 and have a question...since my car has different size tires on front and rear...could I replace all 4 with the same size tires or not

Yes, but since the rear wheels are wider, make sure the 19" replacement tire will fit all rims, unless you are going for new rims as well.

See this thread for a discussion on this.

Tire rotation for one. With staggered, you can only rotate left and right on each axle. Same size symmetrical tires allows full rotation, even more with full-sized spare tire. And, two, you would probably save money, as the larger rear tires are rarely in stock and pricey.

But one of the whole points of having an EQUUS is to have those beefy rears wide and grabbing the road to get the beast moving, which you probably agree, it really does scoot when you push the pedal.

Of course, don't drive like this, but our car has impressed this motorcycle youtuber

Well tire rotation and saving money were the obvious non-answers that I didn't think needed to even be mentioned, but neither are anywhere near justifiable for this car IMHO. Plenty of other cars with same size all-around that would be a better option for someone who really has to have all four the same. 429hp begs for wide rear tires, and the extra cost of the wider tire was less than the cost of a tank of gasoline for me.

Has anyone successfully put the rear tires and wheels on the front made it work? I know the tires are bigger and the rims are a different size and the offset is different by about 1/2 inch. I just want to know if it is possible. If it is I might buy 2 more rear wheels and put them in the front. So all 4 would be the same size. Would need to space the rear about a 1/2" to make them even. Comments, thoughts? Thanks guys! 2014 Equus.

Thats the question I want to know can I purchase 2 more rear rims for the front and would the car ride just as smooth?? Somebody please give me an answer I found the rims just need the ok! Lbvvs

No. The rear rims (with 275-width tires) will rub in the front and it's a real PITA to steer. How do I know? Because when my Equus belonged to my grandfather, the dealership actually rotated his tires and put the wide ones on the front! He mentioned the steering feeling strange so I gave it a drive and then looked and couldn't believe a "professional" had done that.

Then they actually argued with him that the rotation was correct! Of course having F and R cast into the wheels to show front and rear kind of put an end to their stupidity.

My dealer swapped the front and rears after a rotation and I drove the car 1,000 highway miles and didn't notice any rubbing or issues on my 2012. The dealer paid for another service center to reposition them.

You'd really do the rest of the community a service by calling out this particular dealer.

The dealer (who was an excellent dealer otherwise) is out of business!
