Title question

I recently purchased a 2018 G80 from one of the well-known online dealers. The title arrived in the mail the other day and the make of the car on the title is Hyundai. I live in Florida. Does anyone have a similar story?

I believe that some states don't have Genesis as a choice, so they put down Hyundai.

Did you buy the car from an original Florida source? Some states do not have Genesis as a make and register and title as Hyundai. It may have been originally titles as a Hyundai since that is the parent company.

My car was titled in CT and is not registered in FL as Genesis.

Yes. The car was originally titled in Florida. I'm guessing it was all VIN-driven anyway.

That's what I'm thinking as well. The first three digits of the VIN indicate the country of origin and manufacturer. The first three digits for my Hyundai Genesis are KMH. If yours are the same, then the VIN indicates Hyundai. If the DMV determines the information for the title from the VIN, then they would document any cars with KMH as Hyundai. If your first three digits are different, then the DMV might not have Genesis in their system as a manufacturer.

its a state specific thing. With genesis being a newer brand, and DMVs being trash at doing anything quickly, its gonna take awhile for all states to have genesis listed specifically.
