My 2012 Genesis has recently had two episodes of a total loss of power, fortunately both occurring in my garage when I went to start it. These problems started just a few days after we had our 100,000 checkup and maintenance work done at a Hyundai dealership. After the first episode, my wife looked it up online and someone had a similar problem and they found a main fuse in the engine breaker compartment and pulled it out and then replaced it and their car was fine. We found the fuse to be loose and pushed it in and power was restored. It did this again about a week later after it was driven the day before and that day, a few hours after it sat. This time no fuses were loose. We called the dealership to report again and they said to tow it in. We arranged for a tow truck to bring it in the next day. A few hours later that day, we went back out to get something out of the car and the power was back on. We drove it in the next day to the same dealership and they could not duplicate the problem after leaving it there for almost a week. Frustrated, I called the national Hyundai number and they established a case number and said they would contact the dealership. A representative called me today from Hyundai and said there was nothing they could do unless it happened again and the dealership got it that way. Needless to say I am not happy with that answer and am afraid to drive it anywhere without the possibility of it stranding me or even shutting down while driving.
Any suggestions on what this may be or what to do from here? There has got to be someone else that this has happened too, but Hyundai didn’t want to divulge that. You would think there is a database with similar complaints and how they were repaired. Before this I have been very pleased with the car and this is my third Hyundai. If this isn’t resolved I will not be buying another in their line.
Thanks for your help!
