Total Strangers Complimenting Your Car

I've only had the Genesis for short time and only drove it like 10 times now.

So, I am driving out to dinner this evening and stopped at a red light. A Mini (the car brand) pulls up next to me and honks. I look over and the lady in the Mini motions me to lower my window. So I do and she says "what kind of car is that?"

I say it's a genesis. She says, who makes the car? I say Hyundai. Then she says "It is really nice looking car, I love the car" I thank her for her compliment and light turns green and we both take off.

I was little surprised by the compliment from a total stranger. Now, I used to drive a BMW Z4 roadster (which is a very nice looking sports car) which I've gotten compliments from strangers from time to time but never driving a 4 door sedan. I've owned many other nice 4 doors cars including infinities, BMW, etc. but never gotten any stranger comments on those.

Are others getting compliments from others as well? I know genesis is a good looking car but I wasn't expecting this.

I had a lady walk into the store when I was picking up some Hendrick's and she complimented my car and asked who made it. Her husband followed in a few seconds later and then the clerk lady decided to "walk me out" to take a gander.

Some of the incidents that come to mind about people complementing my Genesis are:
I was in a parking lot at the mall waiting for my wife and this fella comes up to the driver’s side window and says, “What kind of car is this?” I tell him and he said “Wow, I thought it was a Bentley at first, nice ride.”
On the turnpike, quite often people will run up alongside of me, give the car a once over and a thumbs up.
Once on a six lane a couple of girls in Mustang not only came up alongside, but dropped back went behind for a while then coming up on the right side eyeballing the car before waving and pulling ahead.
I also get a lot of questions about the color also, (Titanium Grey) on a sunny day.
It is nice to drive a car other people are curious about and complement.

Which is stupid - since that would be like dinging a Lexus based on Toyotas from the 60s-70s or the Phaeton b/c of the Beetle.

They said it looked like a Bentley. It also looked "badass" Anyway, they really liked the look of the car. Bit surprsing again, as I dont know these ladies well although they work there.

They said it looked like a Bentley. It also looked "badass" Anyway, they really liked the look of the car. Bit surprsing again, as I dont know these ladies well although they work there.

A lady would never say a car looked badass.

Since I don't have any "H"yundai badging on my '13 Genesis R-Spec 5.0, Blk/Blk, I have a lot of people ask what kind of car it is, or they cruise up behind me and stare at the wings and badging on the trunk. They mouth the description a few times then pass me with a blank stare.

Same here. I have the wings on mine and when people ask what it is, i say a Genesis. They nod like they know what it is but have no idea. Best compliments I get are when people get in my car for the first time. The big screen, nice interior finish and the rear privacy screen really confuse people and the LAST thing they think it is, is a Hyundai. Ive silenced a few hyundai haters with a drive in it.
