  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Today mine (2.0T coupe) and on my wife's Elantra Touring the TPS came on today. After the cars had been outside in the cold for some hours, both were ok in the morning (garaged). Dropping pressure due to colder temps....
We had the same issue on our previous Santa Fee.Tires are fine, but its a bit unnerving having the light come on as the spare is not really made to drive far.
Anyone else with the same ?

Correct. My Genesis was down by 3lbs.

Just put some more air in them. It's completely normal especially if you had your tires originally inflated during the summertime temps.

i know all that. But a lot of regular drivers won't, so maybe this should be included in the owners manual. Just a thought

Before I left Florida last week, when the temperature was in the 70's, I pumped my tires up to 34.5 psi, because I knew the temperatures on the road, and here in Roswell, would be cold.

Got up yesterday morning, and the temperature was 11F. Started the car and the TPS light did NOT come on, so I'm glad I added a little more before I left Florida.

Will return to Florida in a couple weeks, (before Christmas), perhaps even sooner. The weather here in Roswell is getting warmer, and the snow is melting, but "warmer" is still not as warm as Central Florida. :D

The best option to prevent the TPS light from always coming on is to find a dealer in your area who can replace the "air" in your tires with Nitrogen. Nitrogen is an inert gas that doesn't change pressure as easily with the outside temperature. The result is that your tires stay "aired" up all the time and your TPS monitor won't come on.

Not all dealers have the equipment for Nitrogen filling but if you can find one they can usually do the service for $30 or so. Then if you have any pressure difference they fill it up for free.

I've done this in my cars since 2005 and have never had a TPS light come on. 32,000 miles on my wife's Subaru and the TPS light never blinks...

WORKS GREAT>
