  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2009 Genesis sedan. Where is the control module for the TPS system located in the car? And what might be a part number for it?

TPS = Throttle Position Sensor

Did you mean TPMS = Tire Pressure Monitoring System?
Part# for a 3.8 can be found here: Tire Pressure Monitor Components for 2009 Hyundai Genesis | Delray Hyundai Parts

My 13 year old 2009 shop manual says that the modules ship in a "virgin" aka "unlearned" state and must be programmed for the specific chassis, as well as all 4 sensors via OBD2 port while connected to the car. Suggest you also verify this with the vendor.

The problem I am having is with the Tire Pressure Monitoring System. I have changed all four tire rim sensors and re-set the system. All checks OK and no codes. Drive the car for approx. 2 -3 miles and the TPS dash light comes on steady. Can go back into the system and re-set it and will do the same thing. So I have been told that there is a "command module" that is likely the problem. Is that part shown as # 95800-3M100 on the sheet that you posted? On the pix you posted is that reference M69? And that is under the hood..Correct? Appreciate your help.

Also, as long as we are on the subject and it sounds as if you are familiar with 09' model, I am having no joy in getting the car smogged. Battery was replaced and all systems have re-set except for the EGR. Have tried the drive cycle test and cannot get it to clear. Any suggestions on that?

95800-3M100 is most likely the correct part (although after 13 years they may have updated it), again you should verify all this as well as programming status and methods with the part vendor you select (dealer or otherwise). IIRC location is under the dash, in the picture you can see the metal vertical support for the head unit display as well as the left side of the cover to the cabin air filter.

As far as smog drive cycle readiness. I live in FL and have no experience with it personally (we have no inspections in FL), sorry. I know our cars can be difficult, but there are numerous threads on the forums here, for example: 2009 sedan EGR monitor not ready for smog check

Hi, really appreciate your help. Next question is I went on line and that part OEM new is around $100. There are several on line from yards that are around $30. Your thoughts on should I go with the new or take a chance on a used one? And if I were to take a chance on a used one, could it be perhaps programed for a specific series or build date and not work in curing the issue that I have?

Personally, at $100, I'd go for the new one.

I think you are right. Thanks for you input
