Yeah I actually came from a 2017 Q60 RedSport. I took it to this same track couple years ago with a JB4 and lowering springs and it was a pretty bad experience. I had cooling issues (car heat soaked within the first lap) and the handling was horrible, lots of understeer and very little grip even with PS 4S (which I spent 2 grand to replace with the horrible run flats that came with it).Going back to the Q60, couldn't believe it's 6 grand more than the G70, and not even close in equipment. Hope to keep the G for a long time![]()
A year later and about 10 grand in mods (ecutek tune, sway bars, new brakes, etc) and finally the car performed well on that track. Still, it wasn't as fun as the G70. The Q60 chassi isn't on the same level, it felt like a boat (though on rails cuz of the suspension upgrades), but still a boat and slow on corners. Also not having an LSD made a big difference.
The G70 on the other hand, with just a JB4 the car felt alive, playfully, I could get on throttle early and it was so controllable - the only lacking thing was the brakes (gave me a little scare once). I was blown away though, a stock car that handled like that?? It reminded me of my 128i BMW, a playful partner that is at home at a track and eager for some action.
I still miss the looks of the Q60, I had a bunch of visual mods on it and it sounded amazing (it had a full CBE with LDPs), but with the arrival of our first baby I needed a 4 door car. I considered getting a Q50 and moving my mods over, but I fell in love with the G70 as soon as I first test drove it.
