Traffic info disabled

I apologize if this question is a repeat; I did a search but came up empty.

My XM account lapsed and I noticed the traffic info on my Nav unit was missing. I thought I might have something to do with the XM account, so I brought my XM current thinking my traffic info would turn back on. My traffic info is still missing.

I did go to the setup screen and found the traffic info was grayed out; I could not scroll to it.

Does anyone know what causes this issue and what I can do to fix it.

I have the same XM package as before which includes traffic reports for my area. And, I have not had any software updates since buying my car new in 2011.

That is an extra cost option in addition to the normal XM music service....about $5/month. I tried it and didn't find it worthwhile.....it misses too many roads that I drive on. I usually just check Google maps before I leave.

If you want it back on, call your "friendly" XM people.

Like Bubba said call them and explain want happen if they said everything is good your may need the current software. Do you have to refresh the signal every time?

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. As some have said, the solution is the traffic subscription from XM Radio. I agree that Google and Mapquest provide better coverage, but since my major roads are quite a distance from my home, I would rather not look at traffic updates on my phone while in route.
