  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know if there is a trailer hitch available for the 2015 V6 AWD yet. I have a small boat/trailer (whole thing weighs less than 1000lbs). I'm quite sure they don't have them in Canada, but usually the US has them way before we do (if we even get them):(

thanks

You mean something like this.

The max towing capacity on this one is 2000lbs :)
Oh and yes American's love towing lol.

I have also been looking for a hitch. My take from reviewing the sites suggested is that these hitches are for pre-2015 models only. If you look at the installation instructions, they are from 2012 at the latest.

If I recall, it was about a year before anyone came out with a Gen 1 hitch, so I guess we wait a bit:(

Manual recommends not using this vehicle for towing. Not sure if it would void any warranty's or not but worth looking into first.

If they find out you towed with it I guess warranty could be an issue however a hitch can be used for a bike rack you know. ;)

As I understand it, warranty would only be an issue if it could be directly related to pulling the trailer IE - burn out transmission, distort frame etc. With a proper hitch, the Genny would easily pull an under 1000lb load.

I had U-Haul hitch on my 2012. Since there wasn't a hitch available for the 15, I had them take it off my 12 and fit it to the 15. It needed to be "narrowed" slightly at the ends, which was accomplished by pounding he ends onto a concrete floor. It took some force since trying to bend it on an anvil was nearly impossible. It worked and the 15 has pulled several trailers successfully.

BTW, I also used the connectors from the 12. Total cost to transfer the 12 setup to the 15 was $85.00.

I just saw a 2015 Genesis towing one of those big teardrop trailers through Colorado Springs... Looked like she was squatting pretty hard...

You should keep the tongue weight to around 200 pounds. If it's too light, the trailes can wallow, if it;s too heavy it can pull the back down.
