w/ the 2009 4.6 i drive (33k miles), i've noticed many times now that when i floor the car hard off the line w/ the esc off , the car will take off and the tranny will suddenly knock hard in first gear and the rpms go down to 1 thousand. however, i don't think i have experienced this w/ the esc on. could be unrelated to the esc- ? i don't know. other than when i accelerate hard off the line, she drives fine and shifts smooth. any thoughts?
 
Loud tranny noises are bad. Take it to the dealer and get the tech to ride with you and demonstrate it to the tech.

the transmission is a ZF-hp26 six speed electricaly controlled transmission. The software is designed that if any over slippage/heating occures it will go into a protective mode automatically and then return to normal as load is decreased.

Take it to the dealer you may have a friction/drum/pressure problem.
