  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. So title. We have a 2011 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 with about 127,000 miles. I know it is recommended to change the transmission fluid at 100k and that has not been done on this vehicle.

So I’ve been noticing lately the shift from 1st to 2nd is kind of rough. Would getting the transmission fluid changed fix this?

Any advice is appreciated.

I think that the typical recommendation is to change the fluid every 60K miles. My feeling is that you change the fluid to avoid problems, not to fix them. That said, I had one car that started to have a "rumble" sometimes and it turned out to be a known issue and changing the fluid did completely resolve it.
I don't think that you have much to lose by changing the fluid, but be ready for the possibility that this will be the last insult and the transmission may need to be replaced soon after.

Never flush it, just drain and fill.
