So about two weeks ago my car (2.0T Elite) started shifting really horribly, it would lurch in and out of every gear. Took it to the dealership the next day and left it with them, they didn't have any Genesis loaners available so they put me into a rental until either they fixed my car or a Genesis became availble. 5 days went by until a Genesis was ready so I drove over to the dealership again, left my rental and they put me into a 2018 G80 5.0.
I got the diagnosis from them today that the transmission radiator had failed which caused the transmission issue so they are ordering a new radiator and transmission for me. All in all I'm kinda sad that my 8 month old car has a transmission issue but I am glad that I'm temporarily in a nicer car than my own and that they are fixing mine. I also had to drive about 12 hours this weekend which I was happy to put on a loaner car instead of my personal one.
I did notice that sometimes my car would act strange on shifts prior to this happening and I mentioned it when I brought in my car for my last maintenance. Once in a while on downshifts my car wouldn't shift smoothly and I would also get a burnt chemical smell(smelled extremely similar to burnt clutch) if I had been driving on the highway for a while or if I had given the car some extra throttle before pulling into my garage. I told them all of this at my last maintenance but they said #1 the smell is normal on new cars(I had about 7-8k miles at this point) and #2 they couldn't reproduce any transmission quirks.
