  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello. I'm an owner of G70 3.3T AWD and have driven 1,900 miles now. I have experienced some issues with transmission not responsive.

1. I was driving in manual mode but not in a sporty manner, staying below 3k rpm. When I tried shifting up from 6th to 7th at 2500 rpm, it failed to shift as I tapped my paddle shifter multiple times. It finally shifted up when I put it in automatic mode.

2. This issue happened twice. As I was merging onto highway, I pressed the gas pedal to the floor in automatic mode. My car hesitated for good 5 seconds, not accelerating at all. It finally gained acceleration, but that 5 seconds was too long to be a turbo lag. Never had this experience with my previous car Stinger 2.0T.

I was wondering if anyone had the same issue.

Even though you are in manual you are still being watched by the computer. If it was too soon to up shift it will not allow it. I'm a bit confused that you want to accelerate and shift up, perhaps you confused the computer too. Paddle says shift up, gas pedal says shift down?

Power curve for the 3.3 is different than the 2.0 so you cannot truly compare them at a given rpm at a given speed.

Haven't seen this in the 2.0T. I find the trans to be fairly responsive.

I will say that the gear selectors on the wheel don't provide a ton of feedback... Sure you actually pulled far enough? Did the gear 6 indicator blink? The system blinks when it disagrees.

Also, if you hold the selector in for a few seconds it goes into D mode faster.

5 seconds of delay would seem like an eternity driving the car and asking for acceleration.... If this is at all true (gas pedal down, no increase in RPM/downshift/acceleration) for an entire 5 seconds I would not drive that car again until it is looked at. Seriously. I would pull over and have the damn thing towed.

I was using paddle shifters the entire time that day, and this issue only happened once. The gear indicator did not blink. My previous car was a Kia Stinger 2.0T, and I found it very responsive too. I will wait until 3k miles and see if my car operates better after break-in.

You are 100% right. I used to own 15 Sonata 2.0T which had a similar issue until it hit 3k miles. The issue then never happened till 85k miles before I traded it in for Stinger. I was wondering if the acceleration issue was common or there was an outstanding recall for that. If not, I will wait and see if my car drives better.
My work cars are a Ford and a Chevy so I am very used to poor reliability!
