  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Had the car with no issues for a year and a half. Decided to take care of my fluids + spark plugs. Did the rear differential fluid and spark plugs with my regular mechanic. The intake manifold gaskets that he had were the wrong size so he re-used the previous ones with a bit of silicone after moving the intake manifold to change the spark plugs. Got the car back and everything ran fine.

Took the car to a transmission shop 1 week later to flush the trans. Shop used an Amsoil ATF that should have been meet the SP IV RR requirements. Car returned with no issues

1 day later while accelerating I feel a slight loss of power at around 1.5k RPM. After some experimenting find that when accelerating in gears 6-8, I will lose power in the 1-1.5k RPM range and the car will bog down heavy if I try to add more power. Also while in Park or sitting at a red light in Drive I will slightly lose power for a second and the RPMs will dip slightly before returning to normal. Car shifts like normal, just losing power at these specified time.

Will be taking the car in on Monday, but any advice would be appreciated. It is my thinking/hope that this is an issue with the intake gaskets. My worry is that this is a big transmission issue and I will be paying out the ass for it. Any advice/questions are welcome.

Since it acts the same while in Park, I'd think it is an engine problem, not transmission.

Given the symptoms I'd almost guarantee you have a vacuum leak at the intake manifold. Get a new gasket, scrape off/clean any silicone off the IM and install the new one.

Thank you for confirming, I will new gaskets. I was concerned as the problem happened so soon after the transmission flush. Thank you all.
