  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Good morning to all,

I am currently building my 2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan 3.8 H-Trac. This what it looks like now....See dual pic below....I'm now at a cross road...I talked to Turbokit.com about turbo kits for our cars and they say that the frame is thinner on the sedan allowing for less room for the piping to work without major fabrication. I started to research superchargers as an alternative...still researching as well but seeming like a dead end as well....So I thought about the 3.3 G80 Sport, but I wasn't impressed enough to buy it...plus as a true car fanatic I like to build my cars not have it come out the factory like that because as an engineer its no fun. A lot of people will read this and think why? My car is priceless we've been through a lot together...bought the car new so it has sentimental value, point blank!!! Now since we got the politics out the way lets get down to business...I been building cars for 15 years I have a portfolio of my work....Racing for over a decade....I taught myself everything I know...picked up some tech assistance from tuners and builders along the way. So this is a serious build there...this is a thread that will be full of pictures as the evolution of my Genesis unfold...I only want contributions including constructive criticisms, suggestions....this will be a two phase project...phase one will be down summer/fall...phase two in the spring!

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Not sure entirely on the V6 but I have a 15 5.0 and I can tell you the tuning is where we run into problems. I have found many shops local here in Arizona wiling to work out a partial or full sponsorship built on a Twin Turbo setup. Fitment in standard form for the turbo setup is tricky but they could move a few things around and make it work. Other option I heard on a Gen 1 5.0 he is going to place the turbos under the car at the back and you have a lot of lag that way but no fitment issues. We are currently talking with a company out of SoCal at the moment on getting a flash tune for stock setups as well as the ability to get custom tunes setup. I haven't looked much into superchargers but some tuners have mentioned that they like the rotrex c38 supercharger as it's far smaller and doesn't require all the piping of a turbo setup.

Car looks great so far keep up the good work, and keep us posted on your progress!

Thanks Claylambo I really appreciate that info....Also I'm curious on your carbon diffuser, is that interchangeable with the V6 H-trac? Looking for minor body modification's like that. Send me a PM with info if you don't mind. I like the V8 but they didn't have all wheel drive so I didn't buy it. Chicago winters were brutal. Moving to Memphis this weekend so will have to start research for shops in TN.

Update
There is a retrofit company I have been talking with about retro fitting my headlights with demon eye and led drl switchbacks instead of the amber light. Still working out details.

Currently having my wheels powdercoated by Morris Powdercoating in St. Louis.....great work at best price! Will ship to anywhere.

Will have more updates soon!!

First thing first, what's your budget?

Phase 1 8,000
Phase 2 5,000-8,000

That's good amount of funds to do it. with 16k and good budgeting and maybe some hook ups on parts its very doable. Have you settled on twin turbskis or supercharger? Or twin charged lol

I'm thinking of going the rotrex supercharger route I'm doing lot of research still right now....going to call ARK performance today see how the build for the 5.0 went! My tuner guy is coming the 2 week of August to talk specs and many other info and problems and probable solutions...will keep everyone updated.

So I found a guy willing to take the turbo project on....first i have to do some internals work like forged pistons due to the weak bottom end of our car and few other things. I also found a crack on the back side of one of my rims so going back to the machine shop and then re-coat. I also have my headlights being retrofitted its going to be pretty cool when done...will take pics as everything unfold!

I would find a motor in the junkyard, then use that long block, it's gonna take some time to do the bottom end.

Few places you can purchase the trex grill. I'm currently doing a g80 sport front conversion if I can find it we can see about working something out.

Wow, that has to make for an uncomfortable daily ride. I can't imagine how bad the underside and trim work gets beat up with every tiny bump you drive over. For me at least that looks like a real waste of an already nice stock riding car.

Are you talking about the air bags?
