  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, I have a 2015 Genesis 3.8 sedan and wondering if there is a method to increase the lift force of the
counterbalance springs or air cyclinders that assist the truck lid.
Its a PITA to pop the truck and it disingages the latch but just sits there.

Its a weak strut in the trunk. See: Trunk Lid Self Opening.
The aftermarket part I installed is Strongarm 6926 (got it from rock auto) and the trunk opens beautifully. Not as violent as the B1010 struts and much easier to close the trunk. One thing I noticed is that the aftermarket part had a thinner rod compared to the existing B1000 strut, but I dont think that will be an issue since the B1000 struts are rated 22lbs and the Strongarm is rated 45lbs. Worst case I can always install the original strut.

THANKS!!!
BTY, got any advice concerning installation?

I haven't done this to mine yet. It would be a good idea if you haven't done the trunk lid harness tsb to knock that out while replacing your strut. You will have to replace the strut on the right side instead of the left one like they show in the post.

I've replace my trunk struts twice - they work for awhile then dont.

O man! What part number did you use? I'm guessing they all just suck huh.
