  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm still learning about this car. The trunk lid control button is shown on page 5-72 in my 2022 G80 manual. It basically says that it can enable or disable the trunk open and close buttons on the trunk. The button on the console still works if the buttons on the trunk are disabled. Okay, but why would you need to do this? Those buttons don't work unless the key fob is nearby. I think maybe the key card will also let you use those. But under what circumstances would you want to disable those buttons?

Valet parking. Disable, then lock the glove box.

I thought of that, but couldn't they open it with the trunk button on the console to the left of the steering wheel? That button doesn't disable that.

According to the manual it should not work. Just tried mine and it is dead when I hit the button or fob.

When leaving keys with parking lot
and valet attendants, the following
procedures will ensure your vehicle’s
trunk and glove box compartment
can only be opened with the
mechanical key.
To lock:
1. Remove the mechanical key from
the Smart Key.
2. Unlock the glove box by using the
mechanical key, then open it.
3. Set the Trunk Lid Control button to
the LOCK position (button pressed).
4. Close and lock the glove box using
the mechanical key.
5. Leave the Smart Key with the
attendant and keep the mechanical
key with you.
The Smart Key can only be used to
start the engine and operate door
locks.
To unlock:
1. Open the glove box with the
mechanical key.
2. Set the Trunk Lid Control button to
the UNLOCK position (button not
pressed).
In this position the trunk lid will open
with the Trunk Lid button or the
Smart Key.

Okay, then I misread the section about that button. Good thing to know.

Thanks!
