New 2019 G90 owner, 3000 miles on a demo. Two problems here in the first month of ownership. Under warranty so will have them pick it up to repair both items, but wondering if these are common problems and what your fix entailed. Since my dealership sells only a few Genesis per month, the mechanics may not have a lot of direct experience.

1. My back/home/menu buttons in front of the scroll wheel had a normal "throw" when purchased. When it came back by service valet from the shop to have a second key programmed, I noticed that all three buttons would not really have any distance to push them fully, like they are stuck down. They still produce the function when pushed, but don't feel "right". I wonder if the driver spilled a soda because there was some sticky/shiny dried stuff in the cupholders that definitely wasn't there before. Or is this a problem intrinsic to the Genesis knobs? Its been cold, for here, but only in the 20s-30s F, so that could be part of it. My son's 2013 Genesis buttons I noticed have a similar issue.

2. Every third or 4th time the auto trunk release, the remote control trunk button, or trunk release button on the trunk causes the trunk release to make a noise, but it doesn't start up at all. If I take my hand and pull up on the trunk, it will go up maybe 1/2 ", so something at least partially released. Closing it and trying again, it goes up sometimes. Is this an adjustment on the latch, or something else?

Definitely time for a trip back to the dealership. I don’t believe either of your issues are common to the G90.

Will do. Won't be long before the 6,000 mile service is due.
Any update on this, have similar issue with sticky home and back buttons, all others are fine.

No, I rarely use these buttons, but they still stick. At 6,000 mile maintenance, although I wrote it up, they didn’t address it. The shop is 75 miles from me and my salesperson picks up and drops off the vehicle, so hadn’t been back.

Still having the trunk issue, it doesn’t open more often than it opens. It unlocks, not sure if it does so fully, and doesn’t go up at all. I have to manually push it down, then electrically raise it and it usually goes up then. Last summer when I had service it worked 4 out of 5 times for me. Shop said it worked fine for them.

I would make sure you report ASAP, you don't want to be blamed for spilling soda when the dealer finds any evidence of the spill.

If I recall, you use Olive Branch? When I went there, they totally botched my car, charged me a lot of money and nothing they touched was fixed. Genesis got involved and agreed with me and refunded my money. They have (or had when I was there) only 1 tech Genesis certified. She did not fix my issues, whereas the new place I use has fixed most things. Some still in the works. Good luck.

I had the same issue.
When the trunk is closed, look at how it aligns with the rest of the car. If one side is higher or lower, adjust the stop on that side of the trunk lid. That seemed to resolve the problem for me. (I do still get blips of the trunk ajar image when I go over bumps, though.)

I have the same trunk issue with my '19. The dealer fixed it under warranty about 4 or 5 months ago; they had to bring in an outside specialist to align the trunk with the body. Apparently if the trunk is slightly out of alignment the latch will not function properly when you press the button in the car, press the button on the fob, or try to use the "smart trunk" feature.

I am not exactly sure what they did for the fix to get the trunk "aligned." But now the defect is back; about every 3rd or 4th try the trunk does not open. I turned off the smart trunk feature, but that didn't make any difference.

My attitude right now is to just live with it. But the anger will return at some point and I'll bring it in to the dealer. Last time, they took over two weeks to diagnose and fix the problem.

Interesting to hear how many have had the problem. Since there are only 6000 2017-2019 G90s in North America, the trunk must be a frequent problem to get several posts here in such a short time. I will look at alignment. It has been cold here (not that cold...20 F low temps), and I am wondering if contraction of the metal causing just enough malalignment might play a role.

Hello Ron. Sorry to hear about your poor service.

Yes, Olive Branch. The salesman that sold it to me will drive to Tupelo to pick up and drop off my car for service.

I am hoping the service department expands.

My salesman tells me the dealership is planning to build a separate Genesis service and sales building across the street.

I may be working 1-2 days per week in Southaven (a Memphis suburb) and perhaps spending the night, which would make getting service at Wolfchase an option. But Wolfchase is a lot farther away from where I live (Tupelo, MS, 1 hr 45 min) and where I will be working (Southaven, 30 min).

You know now that you mentioned the cold. It was in the high 20's on Sat night and another time that I had the problem.

When I went out in the garage this morning to look at any adjustments that could be done, it worked fine. The garage temperature was 56 degrees.

Tried several times and it worked every time. Hard to have them investigate an intermittent problem.

Thanks for the info.

Is it possible it froze at some point and didn't get into position perfectly? I've not had issues here at -30 to -40 C continuously for a few weeks, but I usually make sure to clear the ice around the trunk before I open or close it.

Hello All and add mine to the list of cars with the trunk problem. It will open like a 1/2" and than my light will come on the dash, usually after I started driving. But 1 thing what's cool is I can press the dash trunk button and it will open and than press and hold trunk dash button and it will close without getting out the car. I have been to the dealer ship 3x and showed the them but the tech say it worked fine for them. So I'm going to a different dealer and will post back what happen.
