  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

i have 2015 3.8 AWD. It is not automatic trunk but when you pop the trunk open it does go up all the way with spring effect. But now it does not even go up. I have to use my hands to force it up. You think hydraulic shocks or springs needs to be replaced?

I don't believe, even the manual Genesis Gen2 has hydraulic shocks, it has a torsion bar under the upper cover, and it will likely have a spring or set of springs connected from the bar to the frame.

either one of the springs has worn or snapped, or the torsion bar needs adjustment. seems odd after only 3 years, I have a 1985 Ford Crown Victoria with the same design that still opens without issue.. But I guess anything is possible.

you will have to removed the trunk lining to get to the bars and see what the issue is.. If the car is still under warranty I would let the dealer deal with it.. if not and you want to tackle it yourself, post pictures and I will help as much as I can via a car forum.

Yes unfortunately I am at 64,000 miles so out of warranty. I do open my trunk every day at least twice a day.
