  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've got a 2012 Genesis 3.8. Every so often the trunk refuses to open. I can go to the store, come out and try to open the trunk so I can put stuff into it, however it won't open - either using the key fob, the latch on the hood or the interior switch on the door panel. 15 minutes later when I arrive home, it opens with no problem.

Service folks had no clue and couldn't help.

Any suggestions?

Long shot here but could something be faulty with the button / switch in the glove box that locks the trunk?

Can you open lid by pushing down slightly on the trunk lid while actaviting the release?
Will trunk open using the provided key?

If so the latch may need a tiny bit of adjustment.

FYI,

First problem, found out that the glove box trunk switch was pushed to the off position. No buttons on the FOB key, drivers side door trunk button and trunk release under the trunk lip would not work except using the trunk/glove key that is found on the fob.

2nd problem, the fob key trunk button was not working, would not pop the trunk. Found out from dealer, you must hold the trunk key button for 2.5 secs before it will pop the trunk like it should do. This is to prevent accidental trunk release issues with the remote...:)

Oh well.....hole in the ground!
