  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Wondering if anyone has had this happen, and if so, what was the cause. Wife recently took a trip. Called me a few days into the trip in a panic. The trunk would not open. She tried the dash button, the key fob, the physical hand operation, and no luck. There was needed medical equipment in the trunk, and was afraid my brother in law was going to take a crowbar to the thing. Then, using the key fob, it finally just opened. It has worked fine every time since ( using every possible method ). She is now afraid to put anything of any importance in the truck, fearing it will happen again. The car is a 2015 non-ultimate 5.0.

Thanks

The usual problem is that someone sets the trunk lockout button inside the glove box. This is designed so you can give you keyfob to a valet, but with the physical key removed from the keyfob, and your glove box locked by the physical key, so the valet cannot get into your trunk.

If that was not your problem, I would use a liberal spraying of white lithium grease on the all latches associated with the trunk closure and locking mechanism. After spraying, open and close the trunk about 10 times.

Thanks Mark,

I hadn't thought about the valet lockout in the glove box. Likely not the issue, since it decided to just fix itself after about 30-40 minutes with the fob. I will however give that a look. And a good lube couldn't hurt.

Could also be a battery issue. Have it tested at a dealer or an auto parts store
