Tuning the transmission on my Genny???

I just wish the transmission wasn't so FUDDY-DUDDY!!!

I've inquired on a few places that do foreign tunes but I keep hearing Hyundai is difficult because it's Korean, blah blah blah.

Anyone have a tuned Genny?

If it's not broken don't fix it. If you do you try and improve it, you will likely end up having to buy a new transmission. This is a fundamental principle of the universe.

If you like to fix stuff, buy an old lawnmower or something and rebuild the engine.

I don't feel that my 6-speed ZF transmission is fuddy-duddy. But you have R-Spec, which is 2012-2014 MY cars and you have 8-speed trans, which may be the reason.

There are 5.0 engine tunes but nothing I have heard of for the Aisin-Warner derived Hyundai 8 speed which could be due to low production.
Level 10 makes custom valve bodies and tunes for the Aisin 8 speed TR-80SD used in the VW Touareg, Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7, and this is what the Hyundai 8 speed was derived from.

We are currently looking into a transmission tune via BTR. Once I know something solid, we'll reach out. The ZF can handle it, and certainly needs it. Rear end is next!

ZF did some early high torque versions in the 4.6 and 5.0 while Aisin provided the 6 speeds for the 3.8 and a ton of other transmissions for other Hyundai models. ZF mentions nothing about Hyundai in any of their info that I could see.

I read it somewhere and just accepted it and at this point the Genesis transmission from 2012 and newer is Hyundai and neither ZF or Aisin.

I have always seen/heard/imagined/made up? That the Hyundai 8 speed was designed and built by Hyundai as is the 5.0 engine. Of course the Korean brands are all about copycat but still, it was not co-designed is what I mean.
Either way. Honestly if you use the "manual" shifting or simply drive it like hell for a while; have noticed the computer adjusts the shifting VERY quickly to your recent driving style. So if you have been putting around town then try to drive aggressively, the shifting will be out of sync. But if you start the car up, drive it hard it will be ready

I kept up with an ATS-V last "night" and had a good talk with the owner at the next gas station. of course that car is faster from a stop but at speed the Genesis was right there and pulled ahead often. Now I will say we were on wide open roads

Yes, it is true. And I can testify under oath from personal experience.

This is what you can try:

When you sit at the red light as the first car waiting for green light put your transmission into manual mode in the 1st gear.
When green light comes on floor your accelerator and shift manually to 2nd, then 3rd gear around 5500 RPM for each gear, then switch to auto. You can probably go manual to 4th gear with your 8-speed transmission.
Do it several times and transmission will learn your new style.

I do it sometimes on the highway where speed limit is 55mph and there are three traffic lights before freeway starts.

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1

2 seconds in each gear.

Can't seem to find it with the link. Do you have the TSB number?

If you want slightly higher shift points without a lot of effort, you can turn off your Electronic Stability Control with the button on the bank just above your left knee. I've found that this moves all the shift points up about 1k rpm and holds gears much longer when disengaged. Downside is you have to do it after every restart and you get a nag light on the dash.
