  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Turbo speed of wipers

So...I was driving the Genesis today in HEAVY rain and the wipers were set to fast...while driving I noticed that the wipers appeared somewhat jerky and nonfluid...almost to the point of being annoying while driving in heavy rain. Then, when I set them to the normal operating speed they became smooth and very uniform wiping across the windshield.

Has anyone else experienced this type of 'annoyance' on the turbo speed (or fast setting) for their Genesis? Or is this unique to the Genesis I drove?

If you had the wiper at the "auto" setting the speed will varies depending on the speed you were driving and how heavy the rain was falling down. It may go really fast then slow down or pause and then move again. When I encounter heavy rain I put the wiper at regular speed.

Jerky?? Clean the blades.

Also clean the scum that forms on the ends of each swipe on the windshield. I use Rain-X or products like Rain-X.

Note: although others use Rain-X on their entire windshield, I don't. I've found that once you use Rain-X over the whole windshield, as it starts to wear off, you get that jerky swipe. I only use it at the top of each swipe where scum forms.

I think what he may be referring to is how the windshield wipers appear to accelerate quickly to the top, stop abruptly, then reverse direction, almost as if they're hitting a wall or something... My '93 Nissan Sentra does the exact same thing, and I really don't think wiper motor technology has changed too much in the last 15 years :D

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong :p

Perfect Dave! Why is something like this bothering anyone??? Usually because they don't have much to complain about, so a person has to pick apart something many human beings don't car about:)

My intent for asking this question was NOT to complain about the wipers, but to simply see if other Genesis owners have noticed the way the wipers perform at TURBO or fast speed.
