  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Greetings, first post but long time reader with a bit of an advanced question.

I have a 3.8 GT that I'm considering putting a Compustar alarm into. Now the alarm is going to give me a 2 way remote which will pretty much make the stock FOB useless except a working transponder which I must have on me of course. I'm considering taking the transponder out of the stock case and putting it into an enclosure that's the size of a credit card so I can simply have that in my wallet as my immobilizer. Look at it this way, I'd never leave home without my wallet :D

So far I've seen this as a possible enclosure:

However, It's kind of thick. has anyone seen something like this that's not as thick or something that will fit in a wallet?

Thanks in advance.

1.) The factory FOB is very sturdy. I would worry that this after market would not be as strong.

2.) I would worry that the first time you took it in with a problem they may state that the customized FOB was the problem. As a person that trains mechanics one item I have to go over and over again is not to have preconceived diagnosis. But sadly it does happen.
