  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I recently purchased a 2013 Genesis Sedan 3.8. In the trunk of the car, it appears the floor of the trunk is sagging quite a bit. To me, it looks like there should be some type of support on top of the spare tire underneath the floor (like Styrofoam or something lightweight.)

I took it to the Hyundai dealer here locally, and their only response was that it looked like the floor of the trunk became wet and overloaded, hence the sagging. It could have been a leaky cooler from the previous owner.

Is there supposed to be any type of support on top of the spare tire for the trunk floor? Any info would be helpful. . .

Yes, there's supposed to be a tool kit in a styrofoam piece that sits on top of the spare.

Go to the parts department and tell them to give you a quote on the missing part (don't tell them why), and then if that part is really missing, go back to salesman who sold the car and show them the missing part number.

... and tell 'em you don't appreciate being lied to. That's assuming the salesman knew better - if he didn't know that kit was supposed to be there he should be working somewhere else. :)

Perfect, that's what looked like was missing. I think the tools are there, just not the Styrofoam. . . Thanks.

If they try to worm out of giving you a new one just let them know you find it a little ridiculous they can't help you out with a piece of polystyrene. That will help put it in perspective.
