I promise I'm not making this up and I'm also not someone who states things that I can't prove as fact, so here' goes...

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this with the accelerator pedal (my car is a 2010 3.8 Premium + Tech) but when you push the pedal down to where it feels like the end of it's travel, if you continue to push a bit more, you'll feel what seems to be some kind of push button switch. Once you push ALL the way to the floor (maybe an extra inch of travel), the car will seriously unleash a torrent of power all at once. I was able to easily break traction at 50 mph more than once (which I REALLY was not expecting, plus the burnt rubber smell isn't very pleasant) just to validate this myself. I've tried looking this up to find more info about what this does (change throttle mapping etc.) there's absolutely nothing online about this. The other thing I've noticed is once you've activated this "extra push" the transmission algorithm changes as well. Shifts are snappier and it really holds the gears a lot longer. I had gotten up to 75 mph then let off the gas for a second, when put my foot down to cruise the car held at 4500 rpm all in "D" even though I had let off the accelerator.
I only had one other car that had a similar "button/super pursuit mode" which was a 1979 Buick Skyhawk Firehawk.
Has anyone else pegged the pedal ALL the way? What's been your experience?

You are correct, and this is a thing. Bimmers, amongst numerous manufacturers, have had this for their auto trannies for years. It is generally know as a "Kick-Down Switch."

Gas pedal has a click when you floor it

Is this normal, do they have some kind of button at the end of the pedal? There's definitely a notch or something that it hits before you can floor it. Just wondering if everyone has this or I need to have it checked..

With the amount of grunt it gives, it's a good thing it's at the very very end of the pedal travel. It's insane for passing power as long as the traction is there.
