Unlinking Bluetooth connection

I use Android Auto almost exclusively now, but the car keeps trying to grab the Bluetooth connection, which means I can't hear the audio sometimes.

I've unlinked the Bluetooth connection multiple times, but it reconnects on its own and I can't stop it.

Is there a way to permanently break the Bluetooth connection?
