  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I believe that the 2014 Equus got an different, improved NAV system.

Does anyone know whether the 2014 system is a plug in replacement for the 2012?

My car is going back to the dealer next week to investigate rebooting of the nav while running and general poor performance. The dealer will probably update the maps from the 03.00.002012.04.14.01 to 2014.09.02.01.

A software update to change the input order to state-city-street name would be great!

Thanks in advance!

My dealer did the map update with Hyundai paying for it as a good will gesture...great customer service from them!

The input order of state then street name has not changed, though.

I would also like to update the Nav sw. I have a 2012 Equus, and I have to say, that the navigation system is the only thing I don't like about the car. I'd like to upgrade, but hear that the new is the same as the old (except for updated maps). I recently had a loaner Genesis, and the Nav system was so much better, I don't understand why.

I wouldn't mind paying over $100 ($200 according to the closest dealer) if I got a better system, but not if I just get maps. I'll keep using my TOM TOM and telling passengers from work why...

Am open to any and all ideas...
thanks!

I bought a Garmin and a friction mount for the dash. The factory nav works ok in some major metro areas, but is really sub-standard when compared with a $100 Garmin.

The only issue with the Garmin is it tends to slide off the dash if you put your foot down hard on the gas pedal!

I have a 2014 and am quite happy with the nav system. I drive coast-to-coast and have yet to not find a destination on the nav.
Last June I tried to update my nav using a thumb drive update obtained from the official site (don't have address). The update failed, and my audio system "froze/crashed." Took it to my dealer, who would have done this update for same $$. As it was a Hyundai part it was under warranty. Dealer had the car for two weeks trying to thaw and update. Hyundai corporate gave up on solution and installed a entire warranty audio system with my old nav software included. Works just fine.
The lesson is to have your dealer do the update. Cost is about the same and the dealer will stand behind the update
