This is interesting, as I've already had the telescopic limit switch replaced about 4 weeks ago. The dealer told me that they also had a TSB update (probably the one above) that they included as well. Took about 3-4 days to get the switch in, and slightly more than an hour to change it out. Not a big deal, but glad to have it done.

makes sense...upon further review this is an update to the previous TSB, which looks like it updates the manufacturing date range through March 2010

I'm new to the forum here. I think the range of motion decreased for the steering wheel column. Is this the right symptom to look into the tilt limit switch replacement, or is the replacement when the tilt/telescoping doesn't work at all?

Also, just curious about TSBs. Are they "recommended fixes" for all cars, or only for those with specific issues?

Thanks

I purchased a 2010 three weeks ago and noticed a loss of range of motion. I took it into the dealer today for something else and did not specifically mention the issue. When I got it back I noticed I had full range of motion.

They didn't say they did anything, but obviously they did something. I don't beleive these things heal themselves.

exactly what i came back to check up on. the steering wheel doesn't tilt at all thanks all

Mine does the same thing. Works sometimes, not others, and limited motion the rest of the time. Every time I take it to the dealer it works fine.

I experienced the limited tilt motion today for the first time.

I was hopeful that it was caused by a software glitch and would reset itself but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I've have about 2600 miles on the vehicle and plan to visit the dealer for first oil change around 3500 miles. Barring any other problem I will wait for first dealer visit to address.

When I start my vehicle, sometimes the tilt function doesn't work either manually or move into the preset position. So I had them order the part and will most likely do the replacement today. I hope it will fix the problem and not lose tilt movement.

Just an update, the tilt / telescopic wheel worked fine for 2 weeks after the switch was replaced, then its motion was lessening until I again could not see the top of the tach or speedometer. I brought the car back for service and the mechanic who replaced the switch said the limited motion is a result of turning the car off, and immediately back on to ACC, which I sometimes do to listen to the radio.

I was skeptical, so he reset the wheel to get full motion. It only took 2 on off cycles without letting the wheel stop its motion to see the tilt was again limited in motion. It seems to him to be a software bug that causes the problem, but only when the ignition is turned on before the tilt completes the cycle. It has been another week, and being careful to let the wheel complete its motion to the home position before turning the ignition on seems to have solved the problem. The mechanic said he can also cause this by starting the car, and putting it in gear before the wheel completes its movement.

They replaced both switches and steering column in three different visits. No matter what they do the fix lasts for approximately two weeks and then limited up and down range returns. I have informed the dealer that this is definitely a safety issue as the lowered steering wheel blocks the view of the speedometer.

That got their attention. I also told them there is no sense in going back to the dealership unless a Hyundai Corp. Tech Rep is there with a soultion.

The car qualifies for a NJ Lemon law buy back. The only issue is a replacement may very well ave the same problem. May even qualify for a full recall.

2010 4.6 Genesis was in the dealer for 4 days to fix driver seat as it was making a grinding noise going backwards only. they lubed the worm gear and its better for now. Also had it in to fix, for the 2nd time, the power tilt. which by the way wasn't fixed as they claim the tilt module is on back order country wide. Hyundai Corporate are not providing any dates when the modules will be available. Must be an awful lot of problems with the power tilt to be out of parts country wide or they're stocking up for a major recall???

This is my first Hyundai and I'm concerned I may have a POS lemon on my hands... we'll see...

I own a 2011 4.6 V8 that was manufactured in August of 2010. I have limited tilt as well. I'll be waiting for the newest TSB. Still love the car though

DOn't wait for a TSB they have a new part. Came out 1 week ago. Ask dealer for this part to fix problem. TSB's don't always cover new fixes.

I have a May 2010 build and when they opened mine up they couldn't find the switches. Tech said that it looked like the 2011, which he claims doesn't have the switches.

So the TSB looks like it's not good for late model build 2010's or 2011's. But the problems are still there.

I have an April 2010 build and have not had any problems with tilt or memory locations.

I have an early 2011 4.6 and just today the tilt (up and down / in and out) range is significantly reduced. Will update in a couple weeks if dealer identifies problems or if it works itself out.

I found an updated TSB for this issue... details as follows:
