upper dashboard material

I had a genesis owner stop by for a 7.5k service and asked what the upper dashboard was made of. Leather or plastic. I told him I didn't know but would do everything I could to find out. So far no luck. Personally I think its a soft plastic material but not 100% sure.

anybody know for sure?

Mine is soft leather or vinyl. Not sure which, as it looks great. Matter of fact, I had to go out to the car to check it, because I have not seen the dash if over a year, because I use a Dash Mat, like I've used Dash Mats for the last 20 years, to protect my dash from the hot summer sun. Back when I ordered my Dash Mat, I ordered from mrdash.com (and the actual mat says mrdash) however the paperwork that came with the mat says dashdesigns.com

I ordered the Dark Brown, however if I had to do it again, I would order the Black. Fits perfect. Does cover the center dash speakers, however does not cause problems with the "fidelity" of the sound.

To those in cooler areas of the counry, a Dash Mat protects the dash from cracking and peeling, being exposed to the sun through the windshield and the windows closed. Here in Florida, there was a big "expose" a few years ago, about the dash on Dodge Rams cracking and FALLING APART, due to the sun beating down, and many people got their dash replaced.

Now that I think about it, I got my first Dash Mat in 1983, so it was well over 20 years ago. Back then, in El Paso TX, they were selling them from street corners, where I got my first one.
