  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I picked up a couple of USB 3.0 8MB flash drives recently for music. For some reason the audio system (base car, not Lexicon) won't remember where it last left off and wants to start over from the first file on the drive everytime I start the car.

I've used plenty of USB 2.0 flash drives in the past and never had this problem. I'm curious if anyone else has seen this behavior, no matter which audio system you have?

It did the same thing in a 2012 Elantra I recently rented as well.

Unfortunately lots of cars have issues with USB drives. Even name brand ones can act flakey. Only real option is to try a different USB drive.

Refer to page 127 of the DIS User Manual and subsequent pages for information on USB drive usage.

Been there. Done that. :(

Just looking to see if anyone else had experienced similar problems specifically with USB 3.0, not USB in general ...

There is no benefit of using USB 3.0

Thanks, but that's not what I asked. I already know there's no benefit over 2.0, but 2.0 is likely to go away or become expensive due to low volumes, so the question is relevant.

Stick to USB 2.0 as you have answered the question asked.

Thanks again, but you obviously haven't read the question in the original post.

Sorry to sound disrespectful, but I'm no idiot, and I don't assume anyone else on this board is either. Please read the question and answer if it applies to you; otherwise, you can move to another topic without commenting.

Thanks.

Same exact thing happens in my car too.
Always returns to the 1st song when I restart the car using a USB3.0 flash drive.
Real PITA!

Had to go back to a 2.0 and it works no problem.

I use a 64 GB USB 3.0 drive in my 2013 Genesis 5.0 R-Spec. I have the Lexicon audio system. I do not have any problems with the USB 3.0 drive. It always starts up where it was when I shut it off.

Thanks! Good to know. Can you tell me about who made your flash drive and it's part number information if you can?

Maybe there's a difference between the base audio (which I have) and the Lexicon system (which others' have) dealing with USB 3.0, but I also get that any different vendor/source for the flash drive can make a difference.

If the car's audio system can read the drive, which it can, it's difficult to understand why simply going from USB 2.0 to 3.0 would make a difference. If you have a 2.0 flash drive that worked (i.e., didn't start at the same song every time), try doing a direct copy to a formatted 3.0 drive so that the file structure is the same and give that a shot.

My car is a 2009 and maybe that`s the reason I have problems
OTOH, wchettel has a 2013.

That could be the reason

It's an ADATA 64 GB Flash Drive - mod # UV128. I purchased from Tigerdirect.com.

Also, I forgot to mention that I do NOT remove the flash drive when I turn off the car - I leave it plugged in. If I do remove it for any reason, then it starts up with the first selection it finds when I put it back in.

I don't have that problem with my Lexicon system in a 2010 w/Tech package. I'm using a 32g 3.0 USB flash drive. So, sorry, wish I could help.

However, my USB drive does NOT play in surround sound like my audio CDs do. Do your USB drives play in surround sound?

Mine play in surround sound with my 16gig usb drive. Mp3 at 320k recordings.

How do I determine the rate at which my sons were recorded? I miss the surround sound feature with my USB drive.

Ok, got it. Mine are at 256k. How do I encode to 320k in the future? All I do is download these songs from the 'net.

What if I have some CDs I wish to copy to my USB drive, how would I encode this as 320k?

Hope you don't mind the questions.
