Hi Guys,

got a weird usb issue. I have 4GB usb drive, fat32 (2086 allocation as per the manual), got about 24 albums. It sounds great. No issues when listening to it.

However, suppose a track is almost about to finish and i happened to shut off my car. then the next time I come and turn on the car, the track will start playing from where i left off ( which is normal). however, once the tracks finihes, it will come back to the spot where I had left off before i had shut off the car and start playing again. Also, it goes in an infinite loop.

if i skip to the next tract, the issue is gone. have any of you had this issue before? I tried shutting off AV before shutting off the car as welll. No luck

thanks in advance
Kogu

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I've never had this issue, and I use the USB for audio playback a lot.

To help you troubleshoot, could you provide us with the year, type (coupe/sedan), engine (2.0T/3.8/4.6) and trim (base/r-spec/premium/grand touring/track/tech) info for your car?

Thanks for getting back. I have 2010 Genesis sedan, A fully loaded 3.8. So its' the tech package. Maybe its my USB drive. I just bought a Kingston one i believe from wall - mart. May I should have bought an expensive one, but i doubt it.

That's strange.

Until someone else chimes in with the same problem, I guess all you can do is try a different USB drive. I doubt this is the problem, since I've used Kingston, HP and knock-off brand USB drives in my Genesis w/o issue.

I wonder if it's a software bug that could be corrected with a firmware update? [total speculation]

Even though you aren't likely to get a fix out of it, you might be forced to take it into your dealership if it's annoying enough to warrant it. The good thing about doing that is it gets the problem in their system so that if anyone else has the same issue in the future, they have another example to go on.

Good luck finding a fix!

I don't think that is an issue with the USB drive. I use USB audio almost exclusively and have never had an issue like that. Weird; please post back if you learn more. I suppose you could try another USB drive, to be sure.

I have the exact same problem.
I listen to USB music about 80% and CD/DVD about 20%.

The USB acts exactly as you describe.
I believe it happens to VBR music only...I'm not sure but that's what I noticed.
It's a PITA...so I just hit next when it restarts to play.
I have a 2009 Tech package too.

Regards,

You might want to try manually removing the FAT32 partition on your USB drive, recreating it and reformating it. I have had issues with a variety of thumb drives that were resolved doing what I just described. Factory formated drives leave a lot of room for wierdness. Hope this helps.

okay, so it's not just me then. good to hear. I did try reformatting the drive. No luck yet. But thanks for sharing guys. maybe i will try it with NON VBR mp3s?

Yeah, give that a go. VBR isn't supposed to be a problem, but since I (and many others w/out problems) stick to CBR, it'd be worth a try.

I hope this goes here, I have a 32gb flash drive that I was using in my Genny and everything was going and sounding great, I took the drive out to put more music on it about 4gb and when I put it back in I get loading error and usb won't read the drive. Is this a software issue or should I have usb checked? Have tried another brand of drive(HP 8gb) loading error still shows. HELP!

Hmm... very odd. Had the 8GB HP drive ever worked?

No, I just purchased the 8gb flash drive hoping it would work. I was wondering if it is possible to have put a corrupt file on the flash drive. I had about 900 songs when everything worked now I have about 2300 on the drive and it won't read. (loading error) every time I plug it in.

That's possible, yes. Some kind of corrupt file or problematic file type or malfunctioning folder structure... I donno.

The only way to know for sure would be to revert the 32GB drive back to it's former state of functioning by deleting the newest 1400 tracks. I know this is annoying, but it's likely the easiest troubleshooting method.

The issues I have had was not due to formating, but to the Drive Partition. Did you drop and re-create the drive partition too?

:DJust wanted to give an update. I removed all files and flash drive worked as before. I guess this proves it had to be a bad file added. Thanks!

Interesting. Very glad to hear it's working for you again and that it wasn't a serious issue. :)

If you ever get around to doing some more trial & error or ever find out what the culprit file(s) were, it'd be great if you reported back with concluding findings. You never know who else might appreciate the solution down the road.
